Nukes and aircraft are more dangerous, but battleships are still cooler.

B-26. Fast, handled like a fighter, and could mount .75mm guns (so could the B-25). Perfect for strafing and evasion, whereas the big old four-engines were way too vulnerable.
If not the B-26, then the good old DeHavilland Mosquito.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

But her the Yamato's guns weren't that great. The Iowa's actually had more penetarting power due to better shells.Vympel wrote:How so? The Yamato had heavier armor and 18-inch guns. 18 inches man! And the Yamato had shitty armor. Poor quality made up for with massive quanity. The Iowas had better armor due to the quailty and quantity of it.

The 16/50-cal with the superheavy 2700-lb shell has similar (though still slightly inferior) penetrating power at range compared to Yamato's huge 18" guns. The Japanese shells weren't that good and were more optimized for underwater hits. The computerized fire control on the American ship was much superior and was fed data from a useful radar set (Japanese sets were not accurate enough to give ranging data)
In addition, Yamato had a lot of armor, but it wasn't very good. Iowa had a decent amount of armor, but not a great amount (most of the extra tonnage over South Dakota was spent on speed, not armor). The speed will also allow the Iowa to dictate the engagement, likely be standing off and pummeling the IJN ship.
If we go into anti-aircraft defenses, well, there's almost no comparison. Iowa's armament was vastly superior and better aimed.
I don't particularly like the look of the B-29 or the B-50. I liked the B-36 look much better, and it was much more difficult to intercept as an added bonusStormbringer wrote:B-29.
