Now it's time for my favorite morbid pastime:
Watching the hypocritical mourners come out to play.
I disagreed with the man's politics on every conceivable level and I think the conservative worship of him is both idolatrous and just plain stupid, but the only good thing about this is that his suffering is over.
Go to God in peace, Mr. President.

There won't be anything to keep you from the distant morning glow.
I'm not a man. I just portrayed one for 15 years.

Rest in peace, President Reagan. You were there when our country
needed you the most

I've always thought that RR's letter revealing he has Alzheimer's to be especially poignant, a realization of the decline he would suffer combined with his optimisim for America.
"In closing let me thank you, the American people, for giving me the great honor of allowing me to serve as your President. When the Lord calls me home, whenever that may be, I will leave with the greatest love for this country of ours and eternal optimism for its future.
I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright new dawn ahead.
Thank you, my friends. May God always bless you.
Sincerely,
Ronald Reagan"

That's truly a beautiful piece to end with. I can't imagine the recent Presidents having such literary skill.Medicus wrote:I've always thought that RR's letter revealing he has Alzheimer's to be especially poignant, a realization of the decline he would suffer combined with his optimisim for America.

I will never forget his speech the night of the Challenger accident. It was so elegant and captured the feelings of the country so well.Admiral Valdemar wrote:That's truly a beautiful piece to end with.
