Piss off you troll. What this guy did was an attempt to destroy the lives of people he didn't like. He was dead wrong and what he dead was a threat to the lives of others. He got exactly what he deserved. What the fuck are police supposed to do in situations like this? Let the person go on destroying the city just because he isn't killing anyone?Jadeite wrote:Fuck you. Property damage is not a capital crime.Kamakazie Sith wrote:I'm not rooting for this guy. Just because he is having a bad day means he should be able to ruin the lives of bunch of other people? You do realize this happened before. Someone stole a tank and didn't kill anyone yet the cops shot him because of the massive property damage he was causing and he was still a threat to people.
You people who are idolizing this guy are pathetic. This man was disgruntled over zoning changes and rather then try to change things or peacefully protest he attacks the property of those he disagreed with. For fucks sake, he attacked everyone on the board regardless of their feelings of the situation. And he attacked a fucking library. That is one of the biggest losses here.

It was a creative protest, I'll give him that. But not worthy of praise. Anyone who sees themselves as anarchists or one-man armies that can change a nation by one stupid spontaneous act deserve a psychological evaluation, fee of charge.
There's no telling whether people could have been in those buildings anyway and crushed by the collapse of the walls etc. As pissed off as a guy can be about high tax or other such issues, that does not justify such an outburst with lethal potential.

He knocked out several gas lines. There could have been a massive explosion, and he certainly didn't get out to check and make sure the buildings (and all neighbouring buildings) were empty before hitting them.
A gas line rupture can cause an explosion where you wouldn't expect it. Last year, a construction crew hit a gas line in Toronto thanks to incompetence and stupidity, and then failed to realize that by failing to excavate all of the dirt around the damaged line, they were forcing the leaking gas into the ground, where it found its way into a nearby building's basement. I don't think I need to explain the ending of this story; let's just say that several innocent people lost their lives.

hmmm but the reckless endangerment of human life certainly would justify lethal retaliation by the police. In any case I'm sure if someone was plowing through a building with your family inside of it you would probably wish them dead.

I can understand where you're coming from (hell, I'll admit it; I heard the A-team theme song in my head when I found out about this). But it wouldn't have been so cool if somebody had been killed, and it's not like he was really taking that many precautions.

It's absolutely fucking stupid. What if he had killed innocent people in those buildings? There's no way he could have know the buildings were unoccupied. It's assualt with a deadly weapon with intent to kill if nothing else.
I’m something of a liberal and critical of what I percieve as excessive police violence but even I think they were well within their rights to shoot to kill on this occasion. This guy was recklessly demolishing an entire town with no concern for who he might kill or injure in a home made tank, shooting at the police with his MACHINE GUN and trying to blow up gas canisters. If he didn’t cross the line who does?
He apparently shot himself anyway so the police are off the hook.

I'm pretty sure firing a machine gun at propane tanks and running into occupied buildings is a capital crime.Jadeite wrote:Fuck you. Today could have had a lot of innocent lives lost not to mention the lives that will be forever changed by this. Some business might be forced to close, for example.

He never fired on the propane tanks. Get your sources straight before you condemn people to death

By the time the cops were actually able to get to him (which required multiple explosive charges placed by the SWAT team), he was no longer a threat; the killdozer had broken down by then. He wasn't going anywhere. If the police had killed him as soon as they'd gotten the dozer open, it would have been excessive force because he no longer posed a threat.Alyeska wrote:You do realize this happened before. What, we can't laugh at the situation and have fun with it? Nobody was hurt. That's what's important. If someone had been killed, it would be completely different, but that's not the case. It's not like we're saying "people should do this", we're just taking advantage of this opportunity to be able to have a laugh at the insanity that humanity can produce. Besides, if they were smart, they'd call him a terrorist and get excessive amounts of cash out of the Feds like the people associated with the WTC did.
Okay... so what are you going to do? The cops did fire at him, several times... they couldn't penetrate the armor. So what use would killing him be when the killdozer was down and they could finally get at the armor with explosive charges? No, because he put peoples lives in danger just over a zoning dispute. He could have easily killed someone.

I misread the part about the propane tanks. I guess he aimed his weapons at the propane tanks but didn't fire. I don't see why the officer felt that was worth mentioning considering they are mounted on so they have no choice but to go in the direction they are pointed. But anyway I digress....Howedar wrote:He never fired on the propane tanks. Get your sources straight before you condemn people to death
He still ran into buildings so whether he fired on those propane tanks or not is actually quite irrelevant because he still could have easily crushed someone.
I still believe he got what he deserved.
