It's rediculous and retarded, but some of the bouts are neat. I have a compadre who has shown me a couple of matches - some of the stunts these guys do are really cool. Although the promos they do on each other are hilariously bad. As athletes and stuntmen, they're incredible, though.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Yeah, you definitely have to give the wrestlers high marks as athletes and stuntmen. While a lot of the stuff is kind of cheesy, I don't know how you can watch those guys get hit with a chair, take a chokeslam or a powerbomb, and not wince. I remember seeing one of the guys dive through the ropes to the outside of the ring and take a chair shot to the head in mid-air. I still shudder when I think about it.

It's no more mindless and lowest-common-denominator-appealing than most movies and TV sitcoms, though. And at least people aren't blowing their family's incomes betting on the matches in Vegas, unlike with "traditional" sports like pro football and baseball..Stormbringer wrote:How the hell can you watch that stuff? Perhaps they should do a "real" wrestling match, where nothing is faked or scripted. I'm sure someone is going to quit after that and enter politics.
In some ways, it's entertaining, and it's nice to see that the wrestlers aren't as greedy as other athletes.
I don't watch wrestling, though. I have too much to do.

I watch it if I catch it while channel-surfing. It's fun, cheesy, and violent. What is there to not like?

Why do people watch horror movies?Stormbringer wrote:How the hell can you watch that stuff? It's ridiculous and retarded.
Because they're fun.
Same with Wrestling.
I don't watch it for it's complex storylines or great acting (then again, some of the wrestlers are better actors/actressess than some of the actors/actressess in other shows) but to be entertained, nothing more.
