For those of you who read French or otherwise have a good translation software : the Royal Alliance.
ROFTLMAO .
Here is a translation ( I hope I'll be up to the task ) :
The Royal Alliance is a political party funded in the year 2001, gathering "citizens" ( "denizens of the City" ) who decided it is high time the question of institutions in political debate was asked once again. The Royal Alliance not only aspires to have our fellow countrymen re-discover monarchy, but to convice France to prepare its future with these institutions.
Apparently they mean it. It's not a hoax. I saw their TV spot for the European Elections. They even wrote whole books about it.

Do they have someone in mind for the post? Because If they don't I'd like to suggest myself.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.
Which French pretender to they back? I can't read French.

So who are we backing here? The Bourbon Kings, or the Bonaparte Emperors?
Speaking of monarchies, I eagerly await the day when the Spanish invasion of Israel is touched off by a Spanish king eager to reclaim his rightful crown. And bring back the kings of Italy, dammit!
Also, isn't the current living heir to the Byzantine Emperor a German?

"The Wire" is the best show in the history of television. Watch it today.

Well, a relative of Napoleon is just entering Corsican politics.
That can't be. The Lines of both the Bourbons and the Bonapartes are long since extinct. The only family with a legitiomate claim is the House of Orleans.

No, there's a few relatives of Bonaparte still around. One's the grandson (great-grandson?) of Napoleon's brother, Jerome, and Cathrine of Wurtemburg (I think his name is Charles Napoleon). Then there's another relative that's just entering politics in Corsica; we had a thread on it several months ago. It's close enough for the sarcasm of my post.

The Royalist Party of America was founded in 1998. While the stated goal of the party is the ultimate conversion of the United States from a republic to a monarchy, we are all rational people and realize that this certainly is not a realistic possibility anytime in the forseeable future. Therefore, we are content to focus on more immediate goals.
But at least ours realize that they're crackpots.

There are two main pretenders AFAIK, the Count of Paris ( House of Orleans ) and another who's IIRC currently living in Spain, of the Bourbon-Parmes bloodline ( cousins of the Bourbons ). But I've not found which one the loonies support ( not read the entire website, and there is no clear indication anyway ).
