Force Push has a better chance of working at point blank. That's my favorite tactic, actually. Push, followed by a chop and uppercut. Instant kill for any non-boss.
Force Lightning is cool, but my favorite is jumping into the air, and then pulling all the stormtroopers up with me. Priceless.

What is a Reborn?
A Reborn is a non-force-using human that is infused with force powers. The process to create them was concieved by a rogue Imperial Admiral, Galek Fryyar. Fryyar had been conducting experiments with artusian crystals trying to infuse people with the Force. His earlier experiments were failures
However, once he teamed up with a Dark Jedi (and former Yavin Academy) student named Desaan, they quickly located the Valley of the Jedi when they "executed" Jan Ors, infuriating Kyle Katarn to the point to re-embracing the force and seeking the Valley out to reclaim his Jedi powers.
Using Fryyar's earlier experiments and the valley's power, Desaan and Fryyar succeeded in infusing non-force users with the ability to use the force, creating the Reborn.
There is some debate as to weither the Reborn were infused with force power, or the spirit of a dead force-user.
After Desaan and Fryyar were defeated by Kyle Katarn and Luke Skywalker, Kyle became an instructor at the Jedi Academy. During the instructions of some of his first students, he against encountered the Reborn as part of a Sith Cult lead by Tavion, Desaan's former naturally-force weildering apprentice (and possible ex-Daithimor Witch).
Tavion had found an relic of the original sith empire, the Sceptor of Marko Ragnos, a Staff/Sith Sword that could store, drain, and empower with the force.
Tavion, with empowered Sith followers and the remaining Reborn, drained the force from numerous powerful force sights all over the galaxy, including the infamous Dark Side cave on Dagobah (with the notable exceptions of the Valley of the Jedi and a Jedi Tomb of Chandrella), and nearly succeeded in resurrecting Marko Ragnos on Korriban by infusing the force into his dead cells to cause them to regenerate, (and therefore the Sith) before Kyle's apprentice Jaden defeated Tavion, and then Marko Ragno possessing Tavions body, and destroyed the Sceptor.
With the Sceptor destroyed, the Sith Cultist lost there force powers, and the drained force sights returned to normal. Most of the Reborn working with Tavion where killed when the Jedi assault Korriban to stop Ragnos's resurrection.
A few of the more powerful Reborn may yet survive.

In Jedi Academy, level three lightning can kill an AT-ST with about 80 force points. I was glad to have it in the Dosuun mission.Faqa wrote:No, I meant AT-PTs. Y'know, those big black bots that shoot a crap-load of laser and a bowcaster bolt, among others. They go down to a full tank.
The main problem with Pull is that it's only useful for weapon yanking at level 3. Before that, it doesn't pull far enough so they tend to run.. yep right into their guns. But when it works, it's fun. It was better in JK I.
AT-STs... I have a better strategy for them. It requires Force Speed and the WASD keys...
Even a full tank of Lightning serves only to make them mad....
HTF did Ewoks beat these guys? They're the biggest badasses in the game(counting Desann - all he's got is that cheating 'half-way-across-the-room' Push to back him up. Feels more like playing against a Hacker. In a Saber fight, he goes down. And he looks stupid, but that's a seperate matter).
Spanky:
I'll keep that in mind about censors. But I spend a lot of time on the GameFaqs boards, so it's a habit.
And Reborn are beings(though they're all human in the game) infused with the power of the Valley of the Jedi, a burial ground for Jedi apparantly. Basically, an excuse for lots of lovely saber fights in Jedi Knight II and Jedi Academy. Try it, if you haven't. You'll like it.
Also, the "big black bots" are Mark I assault droids, not AT-PTs.

Note: Reborn aren't the only artificial Force adepts in JK2. The good Admiral also created a stormtrooper suit with a Force crystal in the center of the chest. When worn, the suit allowed the user to manipulate the Force. The suit was also cortosis laden, making them a bitch to fight at first.

Actually, it's debatable if the Shadowtrooper armor did that, (I've never seen that they did), of it they just 'upped' the levels of a Reborn wearing the armor.Darth Yoshi wrote:Note: Reborn aren't the only artificial Force adepts in JK2. What was the biggest lightsabre smash fight you got yourself entangled in, and won? Best count is five so far.
Also, has anyone defeated Tavion, without using Dark Side powers? I can't seem to be able to do it.

I found a really cheap way to kill tavion. When she throws that sword around it spins for ages. Walk up to her, switch the blaster rifle and hold alt fire. That was on jedi master as well, stupid game. (Not that I disslike the game, but winning like that was annoying.)

Actually Jaden killed Tavion, beat the shit out of Katarn and proceeded to steal the sceptre and Tavions Star Destroyer.Solauren wrote: (and therefore the Sith) before Kyle's apprentice Jaden defeated Tavion, and then Marko Ragno possessing Tavions body, and destroyed the Sceptor.

It has very short range that's why I don't use it, unless play play in the dark side2000AD wrote:Excuse me but what game are you playing? Force Lightning 3 is second behind force heal in terms of usefulness. Whole rooms of regular baddies are wiped out at the touch of a button and the unarmed cultists that use force powers against you are fried easily. no longer do you wonder why the Emperor uses lightning instead of force choke!
Tavion? Easy Use push a lot, or just run around and fight well.PainRack wrote:What was the biggest lightsabre smash fight you got yourself entangled in, and won? Best count is five so far.

As for biggest lightsaber smash, I once spawned 30 Reborns and won.
Open JK2, and press Shift-~ (key under escape). Then type "map pit" (no quotes) and press enter.
You'll find yourself in a circular dueling pit. Now bring down that menu again (shift-~) and type "helpusobi 1", then type "npc spawn Reborn". Then press the up arrow and hit enter again to spawn another reborn. Do it again, and again, till you've spawned 30. I usually pause before I do this, so they don't kill me while I'm spawning them.
I can kill 10 reborn without taking a hit. I can kill 20 reborn with a bit of damage. 30 I can kill if I get lucky.

I'm pretty sure the Force ability was still embued in the particular user, and not any joe who put on the suit.Darth Yoshi wrote:Note: Reborn aren't the only artificial Force adepts in JK2. The Shadowtroopers were just cloak-equipped, cortosis-armored Reborn.

Just what do these games reveal about the Valley's power then. The impression I got from JK was that after absorbing it Kyle/Jerec could casually induce supernovae...

We play the same game? I tried Lightning on AT-STs on Jedi level, and the AT-ST squashed me....In Jedi Academy, level three lightning can kill an AT-ST with about 80 force points. I was glad to have it in the Dosuun mission.
Also, the "big black bots" are Mark I assault droids, not AT-PTs.
Aren't Mark I Assault Droids the bipedal droids in TPM? My technical SW knowledge is not great.
Necron:
If concentrated in a single Jedi, it's powerful, but it apparantly has debilitating effects(Jerec's power was temporarily weakened by the sudden outburst of Valley power, which leads one to believe absorbing all of it could kill the recepient. I'm guessing a better use for it was to power many Jedi with a fraction of it. Since it's a small enough army that Kyle wiped out a large percentage, enough so the Jedi could finish off most of em', I'm guessing it wasn't apocalyptic power. But it was.... undesirable for the Dark Jedi to get their hands on it, nontheless.

Still annoyed the dismemberment codes don't work the same in JK2:JA.
There was nothing like turning the dismemberment to a pretty high level, and throwing a saber into a room full of stormies. limbs everywhere!
There's also watching Desann cut off Luke's hand in an unscripted cutscene. oops.
back to the reborn, I'm casting my vote for the shadowtroopers to be reborn in cortosis armor.
seemed to me the flying stormtroopers were something based on the Dark Trooper project.. the Hazard Suits (With compression rifles.. ouch) reminded me of Spacetroopers.
