Ahhh Soldier of Fortune II Gold.....
Picked this one up for $20 bucks, and it's so fun setting everything to HIGH
and seeing ultra smooth FPS.
Anyway, using the knife is so cool you get realistic slash wounds
and people actually drop their weapons and run away from you,
and the blood on the ground is wonderfully reflective. Oh yes
and you can't hit shit with the M3A1 Grease Gun.
Yes I know SOF2 is ehh, marginal as a shootar goes, but when I want
to waste time on a FPS, I want to see peoples head's EXPLODE when I shoot them with
a 12 gauge shotgun to the cranium
and seeing ultra smooth FPS.

It can sometimes be useful if you're using the automatic shotgun. My aim is sometimes so lously that I have to go with a point & spew weapon, but a machine gun is still good to have at long range, even if it is crap, just to get your enemy to take cover instead of taking aim with the sniper rifle (or the SIG).MKSheppard wrote:Oh yes and you can't hit shit with the M3A1 Grease Gun.
Ah, what a great game. I particularly like playing networked games and laughing maniacally as I gun someone down at close range with the M60.
Ah yes, SOF2. The SP campaign was decidedly unpolished and sub-par, but the Random Mission Generator (RMG) mode is still fun as hell. I love makng lots of chunky gibs with the RPG-7:twisted:.
There is a realism mod for SOF2 I'd reccomend. Here is the mod's homepage, or if your in a hurry, here is a direct link to the file. Lots of changes, like new weapons, including the MP5 (which should have been in the fucking game from the beginning), Desert Eagle .357, and AK47. Weapon damage and penetration has been modified (rifles now work better against body armor), and there are new ammo types as well. Better yet, all the different types of frag grenades have unique properties, including damage, blast radius, and throw distance. In the default, they were all identical (how the fuck could Raven have messed up something that simple?).
Only thing I don't like is he went as far as to give the AK74 it's real life 5.45mm ammo, which can be inconvenient if you're intent on using another 5.56mm weapon (lie the M4 or OICW), but since Quake 3 stuff is not based on code (the .pk3 data files are identical to .zip files in every way but the extension), changing that is a very simple matter.

Which machine gun? There are a lot of them, and AFAIK they all work roughly the same: point them at your target and shoot in short bursts while jiggling from side to side to make yourself a harder target to hit. Reload when you have the chance.InnocentBystander wrote:I enjoyed SOF2, but could never, for the life of me, figure out the machine gun. How do I deploy that bipod and start hitting stuff?

If you think the M590 is great, just wait 'till you get the USAS-12 .MKSheppard wrote:Am I the only person who CACKLES INSANELY when I got the M590 Shotgun?

Shep, you'd probably like Postal 2 STP even better because your character can literally unzip his pants and piss all over people (in fact, one of the things on the 'to do' list is go piss on Dear Old Dad's grave) and makes comments like 'Ah, slow roasted goodness' when you use the napalm gun.
Plus you get weapons such as a shovel, nightstick, stun zapper, molotov cocktail (complete with a pic of Molotov on the label) and rocket launcher.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

Yup, and as you'd expect, it absolutely rules CQB in SOF2.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Shit, you can get the USAS? That's worth me finding the game alone.
Personally, I have even more fun with the MM-1 grenade launcher, though for obvious reasons you really don't want to use it in confined spaces...
