USSR gov't outline
I'm doing this for research. I've tried wikipedia and I've googled around a bit and I can't really find much. I want an outline akin to wiki's outline of the US gov't. I just want general information about the USSR's branches and the like.

The USSR was technically a parliamentary democracy, but the reason you won't find an outline of the USSR's government is because the government was irrevelant. Every single government ministry had a parallel department within the Communist Party organization, and all the decisions were made within the Party. Every Soviet leader from Stalin on was the General Secretary of the Communist Party, not the President of the USSR (though Brezhnev would later take on the latter title).
It goes without saying that all elections in the USSR were single-party affairs until the late 1980s, when Gorbachaev allowed multi-party elections at the local and regional level. The Soviet government really only became important late in the Gorbachev era, when he tried to go around the conservatives in the Party by using the government directly. Prior to this, the only part of the Soviet government that mattered was the Army.
