Bridge commander PISSED me off. It was the game that truely could have been far more then it was.
They said the shisp would be faithful recreations that stayed true to the universe. I wanted to fucking get into an Akira in the middle of a battle, arc into a warbirds aft and PAVE THE ROAD with so many torpedoes it looks like I have a machine gun torpedo launcher as I simply rip through everything. I wanted to have a Galaxy class streaking into the middle of an enemy formation, breaking it up with mass torpedo savlos as it closed then phasers stabbing out from every direction. I wanted to have a massive Starbase beating down dozens of ships at a time. I wanted the only ship able to fly like a fighter to be the Defiant, and it to be a rare and kickass ship with quad PPC's that tore through most things.
And thats just for unit balance.
I also wanted the ability to micro manage every aspect of the ship, a REAL Starship simulator. Sort of a cross between Battlecruiser 3000, A Final Unity and a Flight Simulator.
I wanted to sit down at the tactical station and be able to set torpedo yields, loadouts, custom spread patterns, electronics warfair, boarding parties, shield arcs and reinforcement, power allocation.
I wanted to sit at the Helm and plot a course to any location within the area of operations of the game. To execute qued attack or evasive manouvers, to use tactical warp manouvers, to set specific orbital paths and heights. Around a FUCKING MASSIVE PLANET, you know like the size of planets in games like Earth and Beyond. Of course UFP ships should be able to manouver around them FAR faster then that, but regardless I wanted to have a mission like 'Descent' with an enemy jugernaught arcing around the planet while we beam up a team, counting down until it clears the planatery horizen and comes into weapons range.
I wanetd to fight battles at warp speeds, desperatly sucking power from everything to the engines and shields, enemy forces closing and torpedo tubes chucking bright stars aft to discourage anyone following. As in real time as we sprinted for saftey (though you should be able to accelerate time until combat or an event takes place).
I wanted to work sensors at opps with power, precision and techniques to see things. Nothing amazingly hard, but I wanted to be able to focus on certian sections with certian sensors, possibly getting a return that may be a cloaked ship pacing us and watching...or perhaps nothing. Or hiding powered down in the shadow of a moon as we evesdrop on an enemy command ship orbiting some planet.
AND I wanted it set in the frigen Dominion war! Not this BS Cardasians post war able to build up this fleet and cause shit. And I wanted multi player co-op where upto 32 ships can engage in some of the historical battles in the war either alone or as part of task forces in massive battles....
Oh and I wanted the ability to have six people maning the SAME SHIP in different positions using voice chat to fight together!!!
In short, I wanted a game I did not get. Instead I got a kiddy game which was far too short and bore little resemblence to Star Trek.

If you find a game that offers all that, you make sure to let me know.Chris OFarrell wrote:Bridge commander PISSED me off. It was the game that truely could have been far more then it was.
