Is Bush Fucked?
Corect me if I'm wrong, but aren't recent polls showing Kerry ahead of Bush? Those same polls are allegedly allowing for the infinitesimal Nader factor as well.
So I ask you: What are Bush's chances of a second term? Is he circling the drain? Or will he be able to recover?
I don't know... Which is why I'm asking, but that's also my answer; because a lot can happen before November.

Kerry's problem is that his campaign has been totally stagnant. It's his campaign, now, to win, but he hasn't been doing it. If he can't present any message at all, then he'll most likely lose the election regardless of how bad Bush fucks up.

I tend to agree with MoO.
But,
I know people who absolutely hate Kerry. Whether it's veterans, people who hate how he's handled his marriages, or just people who can't stand rich New England Democrats, or just Democrats in general.
I also know people who still like Bush because of what they think he's going to do for them financially. They seem to have tunnel vision on that and just about nothing else. Kerry as a New England Democrat would have to convince these type of people that he's not going to take their money and use it in bunch of typically bloated "Liberal" programs.

If the economy and Iraq keep going the way they are then the question would be " Is Kerry fucked?" Kerry has been beating the wardrums about both of these issues, and since both are improving he has been left without any strong message.
Edit: I thought the poll question was "Is Bush fucked?" so I voted no. Please consider one "no" a maybe hinging on a yes.

Despite whatever is going on right now, Bush has a bunch of knives stuck in him already. All that is needed is for Kerry to reach in and twist em! However, his campaign is so dead that he won't do it.
I said up in the air. If Kerry gets his act together and starts CAMPAIGNING (probably will pick up after convention), then Bush is hosed. But if Kerry keeps doing what he's doing, there is no way Bush will be dethroned.

well, if i may quote one of the most brilliant Democratic Party strategists: "It's the economy, stupid!" If unemployment continues it's decline and the economy continues to improve Kerry will be the one who is fucked. Americans vote for what they feel is best for the family checkbook first.

After all the big fuckups in Iraq I would hope he's fucked, but sadly, I don't think this is the case. The economy is likely to pick up either way, but I'd prefer a president who can form a complete sentence.

Kerry's only chance of loosing now is to go on live tv and scream "I eat babies! Join me!" which i dont see happening. I cant beleive it, but it seems he'll beat Bush, and i couldnt be happier. Though, to be honest, i'm elated Bush is leaving but i wish we had gotten someone more 'energetic' than Kerry, like Edwards perhaps.
Still, i'll take Kerry over Bush any day of the week, in a New York minuet. In fact i'd vote for my cat Buddha before Bush. But i'm going way off topic.
Point is, yes, Bush is fucked. There is, it seems, hope for our time.

Without going into deep detail, I think Bush has raped his own ass for a while now. However, it's true to say, I believe, that Kerry is the lesser of two evils.
Hence, I'm voting for Nader. I guess that's the only way to show my opinion.

I did that last time and look what it got us.
Although, sometimes you just cant' vote for the people the Dems and Republicans shell out. I know I couldn't vote for Bush or Gore last time.

I voted for him last time. He didn't win. It's really quite a lot like banging your head on a brick wall. I understand the principle of it, but it just won't work. Nader's not a bad choice, but it's not worth letting Shrubby have another term to screw over our image and diplomatic relations.CrimsonRaine wrote:Without going into deep detail, I think Bush has raped his own ass for a while now. Meh. . .any vote not for Kerry is effectively giving it to Shrub. Third parties simply don't get enough of the popular vote to receive electorals worth enough to make a major impact. Kerry might not be the best choice right now, but he's infinitely better than shrubby jr.

I'd say it's still too early to determine. As of now, he's probably the most defeatable incumbent since Jimmy Carter, and if the situation in Iraq doesn't show notable improvements by November, then he's screwed, unless bin Laden is caught a week before the election or something.

But isn't a vote for Nader kind of a vote for Bush anyway?CrimsonRaine wrote:Without going into deep detail, I think Bush has raped his own ass for a while now. However, it's true to say, I believe, that Kerry is the lesser of two evils.

You're assuming a vote for Nader would have been a vote for Kerry. It's entirely possible that people who vote Nader might not just stay home and not vote if he wasn't an option.Gil Hamilton wrote:But isn't a vote for Nader kind of a vote for Bush anyway?CrimsonRaine wrote:Without going into deep detail, I think Bush has raped his own ass for a while now. either way, if they don't vote or they vote for nader they're effectively giving their vote to bush. That means one more vote that's not going to Kerry. Third parties simply don't have enough support behind them to be practical when nominating major officials.

I want a 'none of the above' option on the ballot. But I don't think Bush is fucked at this point. The nation is pretty polarized and balenced in numbers. Those that love Bush will love him no matter what and those who hate him will not be dissued by anything he says.

I disagree. Kerry's biggest problem is that he has barely been able to differentiate himself from Bush. He also supported the War in Iraq, so he can't really decry that.Son of the Suns wrote:If the economy and Iraq keep going the way they are then the question would be " Is Kerry fucked?" Come to think of it, I don't even know what Kerry's platform is. I know that I disagree with many of his little policies designed to target particular groups of voters, but I don't even know where he stands on the most basic and major issues. That's not good for Kerry's campaign--I can't even remember what it IS at the moment.

Thank the Democrats for once again nominating someone who will actually have a challenge in facing Bush. If this sniveling weasel is the best the Democrats can put forth, then I blame them if we get four more fucked up years of Bush.
