Both actually, though I was only thinking of the latter. If you ever got jumped in a less a than battle worthy condition, you'd be in trouble. However your first strikes are likely to be pretty nasty themselves and I wouldn't especially like being on the end of one.

Alyrium, you do realise that the Asgard Empire is near Hudson? That means it's at LEAST 1-2 days transit time to Terra from there, and longer still out to the edge of space where your nation is. No WAY your ship could arrive in time, unless it was patrolling alone out near the Rimwards edge...

Nitpick: The People's Interstellar Republic wasn't all Chinese (at least so far as played by Cpt Frank), they were a conglomeration of Southeast Asian ethinicities actually. It's just that Chinese was the dominant culture but not to the exclusion of others.

by the way, I've got a working, if very, very rough and somewhat inaccurate, map of the STGOD, Not everyone is on there, and the third dimension is not yet considered, but it's at least functional...somewhat.

It's also very big. I'll put in a coordinate system when I get the chance, so people can accurately tell me where they are. As of right now, just make it relative to Earth, and feel free to include a third dimension.

Right now it's about two days from Earth, the black ring is Known Space, about 3.5 days from Earth to edge. Say, one day or so?

I think the boundary for "Known Space" needs to be a bit more than 3.5 days to the edge. We've got power out on the edge of it and they would certainly venture further than a few hours. I'd call it a couple months to the edge and most of the powers being 3-4 days away from each other and the closer ones being a day or so.

But that's just my suggestion, people can make of it what they will.

Yea. Right against it; they were quite close, and I don't want multi-week transit times for all the big events.

Well, these ARE weapons for cramped boarding actions, no open field warfare. They are intended to be excellent for marines and ship security crews, not necessarily massed armies in the field. As small arms go, they are quite good, easily the match of any large nation's stuff.
