No one else has bothered to pick up this story. Not even Fox, WMD or Newsmax. I'd say it's bullshit, but this publication is being particularly ballsy with its claims.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I checked the last claim about the claims of Mohammed El Baradei, and havn't found anything reliable~ mostly the editorial equivalent of he said and she said. Anyone have a transcript of this guy saying what he supposedly did?

This blog entry shows that the World Tribune is lying about WMD being found. It also has the actual UNMOVIC report. Notice that World Tribune and none of the neocon copycat sites are linking to the report, which isn't exactly favoring the hysterical claims.

Here's the relevant AP Article. I don't think it makes much of a difference.

I love how people can so easily believe that Bush and co. made up Hussein's WsMD as an excuse to invade Iraq "just because", apparently. If this idiotic fairy tale were true, and he KNEW he wouldn't find any WsMD, you don't think for a SECOND that WsMD wouldn't be PLANTED to find??? Fucking crooked cops do this all the time.

[tinfoil hatter] Of course Bush isn't going to plant them yet, it's part of his evil scheme for world domination to wait until just before the election to plant them. [/tinfoil hatter]

It's a bit harder to plant an atomic bomb or nerve gas than a "throw down" pistol, isn't it?

In May of 2001, Colin Powell addressed fellow diplomats in Cairo and told them that not only did Iraq not have any WMD, but that Saddam presented no conventional threat to his neighbors or anyone else. This forum was recorded on video. So Powell knew it was all bullshit from the beginning.

Why would Numbnuts or his henchmen bother with planting anything? Given the way the media in the US have bent over and spread 'em wide for Dubya's agitprop (Judith Miller in the NYT even added to it!), why would he need to? The shysters and charlatans who make up the press in this country are still peddling bullshit about Saddam blowing up everything from the WTC to Oklahoma City. They'll soon claim abortion-clinic bomber Eric Rudolph was, like Osama, McVeigh, and Angela Davis, in cahoots with Saddam Hussein. The Big Lie is at work once again.

They didn't so much "make it up" as "find people who would tell them that that was the case and only pay attention to those people."

And almost certainly based on legitimate fears developed after their own lengthy experience with Middle East issues during the '70s and '80s, when within ten years, nations such as Iraq and Iran were building large, relatively powerful militaries as well as extensive weaponization programs that did pose a significant regional threat. With that in mind, plus doubts about sanctions and the whole history of Clinton's relationship with Iraq in mind, it's hard to fault them for listening to people who gave grave prognosis.

I'll answer your question with a few questions:

Can you come up with cliches that aren't so lame? Tinfoil hats? Compounds?

It's the war pimps who adhere to crank conspiracy theories. Dick Cheney is still claiming that Saddam Hussein was in league with Osama Bin Laden! Now we're told that the reason Numbnuts can't find anything but a dud artillery shell from the early days of the Iran-Iraq War, is because of a fiendish plot to smuggle all those tons of WMDs to Syria, Iran -or was it Atlantis?

SA-2's

Post by Aaron »

What's with the SA-2's in the article? Was Saddam forbidden to have grossly outdated SAM's by the UN Resolutions? Or were they afraid he'd find some way to transform them into a balistic missile.

That's correct. Tinfoil hats and compounds. Those who get so worked up about how the government misleads us and everything this nation does is somehow part of an evil plot generally use them.

I think Cheney is speaking in reference to very minor issues such as the question of what people like the future murderers of Nicholas Berg were doing recieving medical attention in Baghdad, the epicenter of Saddam's police state.

And the ISG said less than three months ago that their search wasn't over, for want of a true conclusion despite misrepresentation by David Kay. Now I don't believe anything went to Syria or Iran myself, but the finds in Jordan and Rotterdam - not to mention Kay's own admission that unimpeded traffic flowed over the Syrian border just as the war was concluding - could, in fact, bear out some items.

I'm currently debating with some people that are convinced that the UN inspectors did indeed say that WMD were shipped out before and after the ware.

See, this debate would be proved quite easily with: "prove it, you stupid dipshit".

Just quote Hans Blix at them. Repeatedly. Bunch of morons ....

The SA-2 has good range and payload. By modifying them Saddam could have turned them into ballistic missiles.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I see you missed the part of my post about actively ignoring evidence to the contrary. It's quite easy to fault them for it. They took the word of a man who had a lot to gain by the US invading Iraq at face value and made him the Iraqi poster-boy for the Bush administration ... that is until we found out that he was lying and selling US secrets to Iran.

Now I'll concur that heads need to roll among the intelligence agencies thanks to the fiasco that was Chalabi.

On the other hand, he didn't exactly stick out like a sore thumb when it came to what the administration - quite legitimately - expected to hear. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the run-up to war was punctuated by the cries of people who insisted not that Saddam had nothing, but that it didn't matter if he did. It was this position against which Bush and the current administration took a stand.

You must like being wrong a whole bunch if you've said that before.
