Never read that either. When I don't put my mind to it, I write pages upon pages like that. (When I do put my mind to it, I realize, "Hey, I've been writing on this forever and its not even ever going to be read by another human being," as I'm generally writing D&D campaign logs, so I stop sooner.)

I LIKE that sort of thing- I believe in long story developement posts, short diplomacy posts, and middle-length combat posts.

Of course, after my last Black Pigs post, that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. ;)

Well, this was an exception; other people were indeed going to read it. :P But I still wasn't thinking about it too hard.

Force Decleration:

The Guidice

There are three pillars of power in Unbound society- the assorted Cluster governments, which are dissonant and only faintly united, the Hajr, which is currently the dominant force and focus of much fanatical loyalty, and finally, the Guidice- the lawmakers, the lawmen- the Lexandrosi. They broker deals between Clusters and maintain order, knitting the varied law-systems of the Clusters together into a unified, semi-orderly whole. Their star is waning rapidly in the light of the Hajr, but they still have some freedoms, and one of these freedoms is safe-conduct anywhere among Unbound.

They maintain system patrol vessels and customs ships across the Elysium sector, and are in essence a space guard. They are not capable of fighting warships, and few Lexandros of the Guidice are in Known Space, their duties being taken up by Hajr warships.

Ah damn, that admiral was the one member of the Hajr that anyone from the Republic has had any even semi-friendly contact with at all... Not that it probably would have made a difference at all, but I like to play all the cards I can. :P Ah well.

The only other decent ranking officers in the whole Hajr are Atja su Miitgar and Asmara su Meshif, both of whom I will be bringing forwards later. Of course, Atja's only a subadmiral, and Asmara is one out of four Admirals, one of whom is more racist than Ouster average, if that's possible, and the other is tightly tied to Jerac; Miyako was his second in command and will go where he goes.

Essentially, the coup can't be stopped at this point; perhaps if it was known to the galaxy at large efforts could be made to stop it, but it isn't.

I'm going to be busy the next couple days. I'll drop in when I can.

Hemlock, Darksider, I won't let the diplomatic threads go too long before I reply.

Oh, Thirdfain

I see you didn't mention my police action in the PIR which would be month six or so.

And for my dramatis personae, there are the people mentioned in my OOB post plus a couple senior admirals I plan on developing such as Von Bek and Stryborn.

Anyone else who wants changes/additions, post them in the STGOD history/dramatis personae thread.

I have no plans on metagaming in order to send a fleet to stop the coup. :P I was referring to Jerac's respect for Admiral Blessinger at the Unification meetings. Its not much, and it probably wouldn't influence him a damn, but hey, there it is.

On another note, you do realize the consequences of having a servitor vampire of Lord Basil make a coup in the Ouster government, don't you? She controls the Ousters, Basil controls her, Pablo now has your nation. :P

I'll work out the details for Admirals Von Bek and Stryborn and insert them later. I'll probably flesh out the rest a bit too.

Oh, come on, now, accurately tracking the movements of pehaps hundreds of diverse warships in a region that's positively clogged with starships of all shapes, sizes, and descritptions, without being detected? Come on!

There are perfectly reasonable reasons why you would want to have active sensors in place. Plus it's fairly easy to determine if a ship is a warship if they aren't trying to hide the fact. Something to do with the weapons... Also, very few people have actually declared that they've brought warships

Even my freighters are rather well armed... We are noticing anomalous active sensor pulses.

Correction: Weapons, armor, and such that isn't normally found on a freighter. Plus, they usually look different visually. Also, you can use passive sensors to keep track of ships, because most ships there aren't trying to keep themselves hidden, or trying to jam the actives. And again, there are good reasons to have active sensors going.

Not to any thing like a warships levels otherwise they would be warships. I have a few armed merchies as well but they're a far cry from a real warship.

Oh yeah... but they are well armed for merchants. Lets just say they are not easy marks for pirates, and they are independantly jum-capable, and we all know how evil jumpoints can be.

Man, I'm glad I decided to send a larger escort force than most people... And you realize that people are selling and test-firing weapons systems, and fairly powerful ones at that, right? You want to provide a new test range? :P *Wishes I'd brought an actual Cascade platform to demonstrate.*
