Congo Has No Plans To Invade Rwanda

CBC wrote:KINSHASA - Congolese President Joseph Kabila says going to war with Rwanda is not in Congo's interests so it's not likely to happen.

Cross-border tensions between the two countries have been rising in recent days since Kabila ordered 10,000 soldiers to Congo's eastern border region. The government of Rwanda called the move a hostile act.

Kabila argued the soldiers were sent in to restore order within Congo.

The military buildup followed an earlier conflict sparked by Congolese rebels battling Kabila's government troops. Kabila says the rebels have the support of Rwanda.

Kabila says he plans to meet with Rwanda's leader Paul Kagame soon but no date or venue has been set.
I'm not so sure. 10,000 troops seems excessive to put down a rebellion, but not enough to invade another country. :?

Rwanda is a pathetically small country, but it's hardly under-armed. I doubt that 10,000 troops could do anything against it.

BTW, why is 10,000 troops too many to put down a rebellion? Look at the kind of mobilization Russia has in order to put down the Chechen rebels.

There's what, 200,000 American troops putting down the rebellion in Iraq? And really, what do the Congolese have to gain?

From sixty-six to seven, they fought the Congo War,
With their fingers on their triggers,
Knee deep in gore,
For days and nights they battled,
The Bantu to their knees,
They killed to earn their living,
And to help out the Congolese!

At one point, IIRC, they had well over half a million troops in the immediate vicinity of the problem.
