Vader blocking blasters
This has probably been asked in the past but enlighten me
In TESB, when he blocked Han's blaster bolts with his hands, was that because of his ability in the force or was it thanks to his armor?

Poe gave an excellent piece on his website showing Vader redirected the energy.
So, nope definitly not the armor.

seem to recall reading this somewhere but can't remember the exact source. wasn't vader's armor specially treated using sith alchemical techniques to make it much more resistant to energy attacks?

In I, Jedi, written by "he-who-will-not-be-named" Corran discovers he has the ability to absorb and redirect energy, and Luke says that Vader did to.
So, EU says its a force power, which seems better than "treated armor" which vader gets but not stormies. Of course, that's only my $.02

The EU's talking out of its ass because it claims that lightsabres are unblockable, which isn't the case in the canon, numerous mundane objects (floors, railings) have blocked them, as well as a potentially 'sith magic' object Dooku's Ship.

Besides, in my opinion, to suggest that Vader's gloves (in particular his palms) are armoured enough to withstand shots from a heavy blaster pistol is frankly downright idiotic.Illuminatus Primus wrote:Yes, its just not the case here.

I think it was a combination of the armor's limited energy absorbtion ability, combined with Vader's force powers.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Why would the palm of his glove be armoured to withstand blaster bolts? Why can't we just accept it as Jedi force absorbtion, just as we see Yoda absorb lightning with his unarmoured and ungloved palm, and Dooku demonstrating a similar ability (albeit not as successfully)? Or Obi-wan's cartoon exploits? Why is there a need for the two to be in combination?

Except that Vader's soft, flexible leather type gloves have no armour on them whatsoever.Solauren wrote:Resistant yes. It was Vader's skill in the Force entirely. Try using common sense, okay?

What does that have to do with Jedi energy absorpsion? Just because the EU gets one thing wrong doesn't mean we chuck it all out.NecronLord wrote:The EU's talking out of its ass because it claims that lightsabres are unblockable, which isn't the case in the canon, numerous mundane objects (floors, railings) have blocked them, as well as a potentially 'sith magic' object Dooku's Ship.

Course Luke cutting through said object in RoTJ sorta makes that train of thought go flying out the window, unless it's tha palm of the glove we're talking about, and then that's not the entire glove.PainRack wrote:You forget the EU, and the "indestructable glove of Vader" story, you know, the one where the wormhole sucks it into the ocean of Mon Calamari..............Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Besides, in my opinion, to suggest that Vader's gloves (in particular his palms) are armoured enough to withstand shots from a heavy blaster pistol is frankly downright idiotic.Illuminatus Primus wrote:Yes, its just not the case here.

A shot on the PALM by a blaster that has the ability to blow chunks out of walls? Using the force sounds a little more likely.
