Some simple rules for G2k/Darkstar's board
Now that Darkstar finally has his own forums, some of you will join. Others will know people who have joined. Therefore, it behooves us to keep a few rules in mind.
Rule #1: Reject all Star Trek past TNG as "non-canon": This is your Prime Directive, folks. One thing to keep in mind: your goal is not to convince them of the validity of this approach; it's to use this policy in all "vs" debates on his site. Remember that Darkstar never convinced us or ASVS of the validity of his "ignore the starwars.com and Star Wars Encyclopedia claims about the EU being a larger view of the same universe because of a Lucas quote from TV guide" approach* either, yet he still treated it as an immutable rule when he debated in both venues. He even treats it as a matter of executive fiat on his boards, by declaring that it's a "rule" that in his "vs" forums everyone must obey his personal definition of canon. Well, Roddenberry said "it ain't Star Trek until I say it's Star Trek" (they try to contradict this quote by saying that he turned over control before dying, as if this proves he would approve everything that Berman has done since his death ). You can't get much simpler than that, and we don't even need to take it out of context the way he did with George Lucas. Roddenberry obviously didn't personally approve any scripts made after his death, so it's all "non-canon". Any time anyone on that board mentions anything from DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, or any movie after ST6 in a "vs" debate, just dismiss it as "non-canon" and ask for actual canon evidence. If Darkstar invokes his "rule", simply accuse him of hiding behind it.
Rule #2: Attack not by making vague challenges but by identifying specific errors or deceptions in his arguments. While it is only fair to restrict ST canon the same way he artificially restricts SW canon on his forums, there is no need to lower ourselves to the level of the typical Trekkie debater whose entire argument boils down to "you're really biased so you're wrong". Keep in mind that every single usage of DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, or post-ST6 movie evidence on his website can be considered an "error" and attacked as such, the same way he treats the use of official SW material on this website.
Rule #3: If he bans you, call it proof of cowardice. While we will not recommend that you troll or act the way he or his minions did here, the fact remains that if you do get banned for some reason, you might as well give him a taste of his own medicine and loudly proclaim in other public venues that he's afraid of you. This one's technically not very sporting, but it's pretty much been the sum total of his conduct since he left here (even though he blocked me from his E-mail), so the whole goose/gander thing certainly applies.
Rule #4: If he refuses to approve your signup, see Rule #3.
Rule #5: If you must flame, do so with thinly veiled condescension, not direct insults. Even though "dipshit" was his favourite word when he was here, he is now going for the "take the moral high road" approach, and telling people that flaming is not allowed on his board (I guess it was OK for him to run around calling other people "gaping pussy" on their boards, but we must observe Miss Manners rules on his board).
Rule #6: If your posts or threads get deleted or you get banned, be sure to report the details here. There's no reason not to make some kind of record of your activities.
If anyone else can think of more rules, feel free to post them here or PM them to me and I'll edit this post to include them.
PS. Yes, this is a Darkstar thread, and yes, this would normally go in the Hall of Shame. But for this particular case, I think we should keep it here, so that it can be linked to from other places and viewed by non-members.
PPS. Note that this is not a formal "call for invasion". This is a list of rules which people should try to keep in mind if they do go over there.
PPPS. Stickified.
PPPPS. De-stickified. Darkstar took his board down.
* You should see Wayne Poe's discussion of canon on his website for more details, since he goes into quite exhaustive detail on the whole issue. G2k has already attacked the single paragraph as an oversimplification of the situation, since it is apparently difficult to cram an entire subject of numerous threads and debates into a single short paragraph without leaving anything out (gee, who knew?)

Of course, that's preferable, hence rule #1 and #2, which are intended for serious debate. But if anyone does misbehave and gets banned for it, remember: it proves G2K is a coward. Consider the behaviour of some of the fucktards who are posting there now (even some who were never even banned from here, but who are acting as though they were).fgalkin wrote:Are you serious? Damn, you just made my day.
But anyways, that's exactly what they're expecting us to do. Shouldn't we dissapoint them by behaving civilly?

"Fun" implies "new" or "interesting" subjects or points being made over there, which I highly doubt. I suspect the only interesting thing will be off-topic, and only depending on how much fun we inject into it (I don't think Scooter really knows how to talk about anything other than Star Wars vs Star Trek).Gandalf wrote:Wow, looks like we're in for some fun there.

The only reason to go over there is Star Wars vs Star Trek. He has never publicly indicated any interest in any other subject. That one-dimensional personality is probably the most disturbing thing about him. Although talking about sex might be amusing in light of the fact that he's a lifetime virgin.Darth Utsanomiko wrote:"Fun" implies "new" or "interesting" subjects or points being made over there, which I highly doubt. It's like the mirror universe over there.

No, that was the first version of it, before I added a couple of more rules and reworded it a bit a few minutes later. It's actually quite amazing that he got to it so quickly; his seemingly instantaneous response only proves that he was literally waiting and watching and clicking "refresh" frenetically until I said something about him, whereas I didn't even know about the existence of his board at all until someone mentioned it in HoS. I had almost forgotten how disturbingly obsessive he was.Meest wrote:Um just me or is he already rewritting your quotes? Can't find this line anywhere in your post.
Now that Darkstar finally has his own forums, we can annoy him using the same tactics that he used to annoy us.
Anyway, I just jumped on there and had some fun pointing out the various hypocrisies of his canon policy (which he tries so very hard to rationalize), but it's already getting boring. There's only one person there who's seriously debating the issue, and it's not G2k. He himself has remained conspicuously silent throughout it all even though he had the time to instantly respond to this thread. He's probably waiting for me to leave so he can slink in there and bask in the accolades of his followers now that the Scary Bad Man is gone.
I do like the way he pretends that he had no choice but to block my E-mail because I was a threat to him It's kind of amusing being so scary that he goes into hiding when I show up. But it's not very entertaining; I was expecting to engage him directly. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Are you sure #1 is a good idea?
Simply put, I've been watching DS9 repeatedly these past few days, and it actually makes ST look WORSE.
For example, in ST2 the Enterprise couldn't raise shields or detect anything inside a nebula.
Trekkies claim that this was only in TOS and TNG ships have no problem...
In Starship Down (watched it yesterday), the Defiant had to reconfigure its shields just to enter the upper atmosphere of a gas giant, and repeated hits from Jem Hadar actually destroyed the bridge BEFORE the shields fell...LOL
Furthermore their sensors STILL wouldn't work outside of 2 km...
They made some modification and claimed to have a chance of detecting the Jem Hadar at up to 16,000 kilometers but they didn't detect a Jem Hadar that was less than 500 meters DIRECTLY BEHIND THEM until it appeared within a 100 meters firing.
Oh yes, then theres The Die is Cast. I saw it aboout ten minutes ago. Great episode. The screenshots I've seen make it APPEAR to be vaporizing large amounts of the planet but if you watch it in motion it's just BROWN CLOUDS from the explosions on the surface in the atmosphere, no flames at all. They also claim that an entire FLEET of the largest Cardassian and Romulan ships (mostly Warbirds and Keldons, the most powerful of the Cardies and Roms) could destroy the crust of a planet in an hour...which also can be done by three star destroyers...which means a large fleet of Star Trek BATTLESHIPS = 3 star destroyers...
Trekkies claim that fighters aren't as affective against ST ships, but in Sacrifice of Angels, Sisko sent in waves of fighters ahead of the fleet, and a couple federation tiny fighters (X-wing sized, maybe a tad bigger) did heavy damage to several Galors and other cardy ships, WITHOUT EVEN USING TORPEDOES.
I could go on and on...
On the other hand, if I could I would throw out Enterprise and Voyager due to all the 'temporal warships', 'temporal wars', and uberaliens that can blow up planets...

True, it's not really necessary in order to prove that the Empire crunches the Federation with ease, but the point is to make him eat his own medicine.Praxis wrote:Are you sure #1 is a good idea?

There's also a space battle in that episode where Sisko orders the Defiant to hold fire until they're within 500 metres. Pretty strange order if normal engagement range is thousands of kilometres. For example, in ST2 the Enterprise couldn't raise shields or detect anything inside a nebula.

Many Trekkies throw out Enterprise anyway, because it's impossible to reconcile it with the established timeline. But therein lies the rub; how much does Paramount have to urinate on the timeline for people to admit that they do not have a consistent timeline at all, hence there is simply no more "canon" to speak of?Trekkies claim that fighters aren't as affective against ST ships, but in Sacrifice of Angels, Sisko sent in waves of fighters ahead of the fleet, and a couple federation tiny fighters (X-wing sized, maybe a tad bigger) did heavy damage to several Galors and other cardy ships, WITHOUT EVEN USING TORPEDOES.

Just going to add Banning of Shep.
The only reason "Because of our past!"
Seriously I'd hate to think if Mike decided upon people he disliked past or present as a reason to go haywire with banning.

Heh heh ... so Darkstar posted more than 700 times on this board before finally getting banned, and even then only because he literally dared me to ban him with lines like "go ahead and ban me, you big pussy", but after crowing for two years about how this was a gigantic black mark on my character, he turns around and bans people at the drop of a hat in the first two days of operation of his own board?Ghost Rider wrote:Just going to add Banning of Shep.
The only reason "Because of our past!"
Seriously I'd hate to think if Mike decided upon people he disliked past or present as a reason to go haywire with banning.
And now he's shut down his board entirely while he tries to figure out a way to make a forum where people can't post things that he doesn't like!!
Darkstar's board has truly been the funniest thing he's ever done. In two days, he has made a mockery of the last two years of his whining about how he was treated on this board, by showing us what it really looks like when a BBS admin can't deal with dissent. Man, I couldn't have bought a better rebuttal to his claims about me than he has provided over the past two days.

Haaahaha! This is fucking hilarious, apparently its really too tough for Dipshit to try and handle the fact that people might come and not agree with him. He propably expected a huge torrent of his zealous followers to join the board and then use those followers to drown all the criticism from his opponents with flood of bullshit.
In any case, i just started to think whether to join the forum or not when i read that it had allready been closed. It seems that Bobby Boy aint too good with handling a forum.

It takes a lot of work to run a forum, particularly when a large population of invaders from another site consistently refuse to acknowledge forum rules or policies.
It also takes 24/7 monitoring to keep an active forum behaving within ordinary constraints of "all audience appropriate" behavior - i.e., no porn, spam, etc, which in turn requires more than one person on staff.
Given the behavior of some of this site's members, which would get them deleted and/or banned in a hurry back on my home turf for reasons having nothing to do with "dissent," I think this forum has a solid reason to hang its head in collective shame.
