Original Trilogy: Final Case and Disc Art Revealed...
Found this over at The Digital Bits, but decided to link to the SW.com article since it gives better coverage and links to larger pictures:

Basically, this is the final official art that will be used for the OT Box Set's individual cases and discs when released this September.
I like the idea of using the original "A" release theatrical posters for the discs, mostly because those have been my favorite poster art for each film (interesting that while I never knew that the RotJ A poster was done by a Japanese artist, in hindsight, it's somewhat clearer that it was...)

They only show and talk about the Widescreen version (or CinemaScope if you want to call it that way), but not the Fullscreen version. Indicates, that they too hate the Fullscreen version of the movies... (I confess here that I'm a die hard fan of Widescreen, hating Pan&Scan).
SW.com wrote:On September 21, when it comes time to tear through the shrink-wrap and open the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD, here's what you'll find inside. As described here, the four-disc set is encased in an attractive two-sided package with embossed cover art rendered in platinum for widescreen editions, or gold for full screen editions. Inside, the four discs each feature new artwork for their covers.

The cases look decent, but there's one of the features that bother me:
Won't this make the set lose that "timeless" feel to it?Star Wars Battlefront Trailer and Playable Demo: The fourth disc will offer a trailer featuring an exciting look at the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront video game from LucasArts, along with a special demo for Xbox users that lets players fight the Battle of Endor as a Rebel or Imperial soldier and drive AT-STs, ride speeder bikes and use different weapons to lead their side to victory. The full version of Star Wars Battlefront will also be released Sept. 21 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC.
Star Wars: Episode III Making the Game Preview: Video-game players will be able to experience the stunning Jedi action of Episode III themselves in the new Star Wars: Episode III game, due out in Spring 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. This special feature shows how game developers at LucasArts worked behind-the-scenes and on the set to create the most authentic Jedi experience ever.

What's a Digi-Pak? Are those the multiple disc "brick" cases?Tribun wrote:Wow, thats nice cover art.
But I thought they would use Digi-Paks. Have they instead decided to use Amary-Boxes?
If so, they never said what kind of cases the individual cases would have inside of the box and slipcover. I'd assume that they wouldn't use the brick cases because they're mostly used for television series sets rather than collections of individual films. Besides, they look rather cheep.
They used individual cases for the Indiana Jones set, so I don't see why they'd do something different for Star Wars.
Kurgen: Fox doesn't use cardboard cases (dubbed "snapper cases"). The only major studios that do use snapper cases are Warner and New Line...
The use of the lens flairs is because the PT DVDs use them, too.

Yes, I also hate Pan&Scan. Don't you agree that it's a good thing that only the Widescreen version is released here in Europe?Tribun wrote:Just interesting:

Oh, Tribun, with your sig in mind, is it common that movies are dubbed in Germany? Here in Sweden it would result in a public outcry if movies are dubbed. Personally, I hate dubbing (I've never seen a dubbed movie though), but it's interesting to learn how the views are in other countries. Not to hijack the thread or anything.

If you're referring to the DVD box, the release date is September 20 here in Sweden, don't know about Finland though.Lord Revan wrote:When is it coming here?Mange the Swede wrote:Yes, I also hate Pan&Scan. I'd prefer if they used the hand-drawn movie posters (for every DVD, not just the OT). Looks better. I don't like the PT DVD covers.
