CNN are right of us, very very right of us. One of our local news anchors is actually a Noam Chomsky fan.

After living overseas for awhile (4 years in Israel), and soaking up a lot of alternate news sources, especially European ones, I must say that the entire spectrum of American politics-- media reporting, and what it means to be left-wing/right-wing-- is is a full step to the right of the rest of the Western world. People who, in America, are considered "flaming Liberals" would, in European politics, be considered rightist conservatives.

That said, yes, ALL media in the US is comparitively more conservative.

But within the borders of the United States itself, I believe that Fox is a bit more impartial than CNN. I watch the news here from time to time and CNN seems to be reporting about a situation on another planet. If you listen to CNN, all of Iraq is aflame, a seething pit of hatred and blood.

I think that the media in the US has essentially staked out territories. Conservatism and more right-wing views have come to dominate talk radio, while most TV networks and newspapers tend towards leftist views. These mainstream editors and reporters tend to be more left wing that the norm, so what appears to them as "middle-of-the-road" is actually somewhat to the left of the US average.

But think about that-- in Europe, Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton would be right-wingers. But then, a rabid right-wing European nationalist still would not question things like cradle-to-grave health care or welfare. So the definitions do not completely apply across the water.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
