At least this little dispute being resolved helps us, the consumer, in many respects. A backwards compatible system for older GPS equipment would save us a lot of cash.

Goddamit! I wanted L-band broadcasting (I can't actually remember if this was the correct band, it's on the same frequency as the US's military GPS)! Would have made things interesting when the US decides to start jamming GPS.

Well that seems reasonable.

Wasn't China supposed to have some hand in the system though?
