I wasn't disputing the Falcon's missiles and X-wing torps, however, I'll have to check the A-wing attack. What you’re saying contradicts what I remember. (i.e the "red lances" appeared to move almost instantly from the A-wings to the globe.)

According to the novelization, the A-wings (Green Leader) fired proton torpedoes.

The A-wing "lasers" moved quickly like x-wing lasers, and were rapid fire like the Jedi Star Fighter but they weren't as red (more orange). They didn't look like the x-wing torpedoes or the Falcon's missiles.

The whatevers moved quickly when they were visible, but they still took a while as they shot away before the explosion occured.
