A Maryvale man suspected of sexually assaulting and impregnating a 9-year-old Phoenix girl lured the youngster into his ice cream van and threatened to kill her mother if the child told, police said.

Adrian Cruz Gonzalez, 22, reportedly knew the child's mother and would take the girl along as he sold ice cream in west Phoenix neighborhoods, Phoenix police Detective Tony Morales said.

Police believe Gonzalez assaulted the child at least once in his van and at his apartment in the 4600 block of West Hubbell Street.

The girl eventually told her mother, who reported the incident to police, Morales said.

Medical tests confirmed the girl is pregnant, but carrying the baby to term could be life-threatening, police said.

Gonzalez was booked Tuesday into Madison Street Jail and faces two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and two counts of kidnapping, Morales said.

Other charges are pending.

Everyone deserves a fair trial..... note that he's SUSPECTED of assaulting the girl...

Yeah, he most likely did it (why would the girl lie?), but you don't just go and kill people before you know that they deserve to die.

Assuming he is found guilty, however, I do agree with you that death (in the most painful way possible) is what he deserves.

Agreed on principal but I don't exactly see much in the way of contradicting evidence here. I'm sure he'll get his fair trial and be convicted fairly...

But I simply can not think of what kind of punishment would possibly be suitable to fit the crime...Death is far too good for this person.

Child molestors and rapists and murders are the lowest rung inmates in prison. He will have a very hard time and will find out what it trully means to deal with someone who is overly horny. Problem is these will be his fellow inmates.

The only ways people like this deserve to be punished are outlawed under international law.

And so people know, the record (that I am aware of) for a child having a child is a little over 7 years old.

Like Sir Nitram said, EXTREMELY rare

Hopefully, they can use DNA from the baby (if it survives or not) to convict the bastard

My mother once operated a pregnant 9 years old girl (baby survived). She had the body of a 12/13 years old, though. Usually that's the case, anormally developed girls.
