Compassionate Conservatism

Post by Galvatron »

Compassionate Conservatism asserts in part that:

* The Constitution does not mandate a wall separating church and state;

* Government should fund religious social service programs that include proselytizing and worship as key components;

* We should reexamine a policy of “multiple establishment” of religion, in which different religions and denominations are directly funded by the federal government; and

* It is an “error” to judge federally-funded social service programs by the effectiveness of the services they provide, instead of judging them by religious “long-term ends.”
WHAT ARE GEORGE "DUBYA" BUSH'S RELIGIOUS BELIEFS? :shock:

I don't know what scares me more. That he actually buys into this crap, or that half the population of the USA, supposadly the most developed country in the world does.

I believe they're talking about when the Last Trump blows and a shit ton of people who've led outstanding lives without believing in Christ get thrown into a lake of fire.

That part was horrifyingly theocratic. Don't judge by their practical usefullness, but rather by their spiritual fulfillment? That should induce a gag reflex in whoever reads that. But half of all Americans would give it their seal of approval.

As David A. Harris of the National Jewish Democratic Council put it...

"The book outlines, in no uncertain terms, that the goal of the ‘faith-based’ domestic agenda espoused by Governor Bush is indeed taxpayer-funded proselytization of the poor.”

I'm waiting for a right-winger to come storming in here saying that we're exaggerating, that it's no big deal that the President is shitting on the First Amendment, etc.

Great to know I cleared it up for you, it was kinda confusing to me too, until I started thinking like my mom and turned my brain Off to Logic and On to Religion. It still hurts...
