Isn't that poster a few decades too late to be effective?

A more effective poster would be:

They say communism like it's a bad thing. Besides, isn't it human nature to try for free stuff?

Downloading MP3's that you dont own is stealing plain and simple. Im amazed how people rationalize that it is not.

Of course, just about every does it. I just admit it for what it is. The only place I disagree with the corporatoins is when they say they lose money.
How can you lose money, if I never had any intention of buying that paticular song anyway?

When it comes to games I do pay for them if I like them. I want the company to get its money. But the gaming industry is smart, they release demos. Ive bought many games I never would have looked at , by trying the free demo first.

The recording industry needs to accept that the internet is here to stay and music sales will have to adapt to it.

Yes, and the Dewey Decimal system used by libraries lets people read books for free. Why would anyone buy from a bookstore when you can have them for free?!

The RIAA has the attitude that they "own" the music that you buy. What makes them have this attitude, hhmmm? Is it the way the contracts are done?

Screw them. I see it as fair turnaround for the way they have been handling their business for the last 50-60 years...

The record companies have been overcharging the consumer on CDs. They are in effect stealing as well. It is technically stealing and two wrongs may not make a right, but most people don't care considering how the companies stole from them first and now have the audacity to say they are losing a lot of money over this.

The morality of MP3 downloading is similar to the morality of tax evasion. You're stealing, but you're basically stealing your own money back from people who have a questionable claim on it in the first place.

I never got the media giants' attitude toward media that you buy. If my DVD collection gets stolen, does the MPAA report it to the police or the insurance agency? No. I do. Therefore, they are mine, dammit, and I'll do with them as I please.

Aside from duplicating and selling for profit, of course.

Does that mean it is Illegal for me to play music I downloaded off the internet when I already own the CD, but, say (since he's evil) my dog chewed it to pieces?

If theres a good album i'll go and buy it. But I don't when it's just one song. I don't download it, just not buy it. I'm usually sick of it from over playing it quickly anyway.

I use it as a try before you buy program. I don't listen to the radio much, and rarely watch any music chanels, so I don't hear much new music. When I do hear a song I like I download the whole album and see if it's worth picking up. If it is, I buy it. If not, I don't. So the music industry only suffers if they put out crappy CDs.
The recording industry needs to accept that the internet is here to stay and music sales will have to adapt to it.
Yep. Use the internet as a marketing tool, like the radio was. Make money from merchandising sales, posters, T-Shirts, etc.

I would disagree. In the case of tax evasion, you're basically not doing something expected of you (IE fork money over to those bastards)

In the case of MP3 pirating, you are doing something not expected of you (IE stealing music you should have bought legitimately)

Then again, morality and decency hold no sway over me. Mwahahaha!
