Granted it has been a long time sice I touched astronomy. I could be wrong....
Low Gravity+Hella Thick Atmosphere (as much as 4.6 Earth atmospheres!)=Really Fucking Easy to Fly. :)

I remember flying on Titan in discovery channel documentary on the 93 moons of the solar system. The CGI showed an astronaut flapping wings and flying. They also had other activities like surfing on the chemical oceans of Titans.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

My favorite part was a guy jumping from one end of Deimos to the other, I think. I haven't seen that for about four years.

For some reason I thought Cassini wasn't going to arrive till 2006. My head is rusting.

I think you misunderstood "thick" atmosphere. Titan's atmosphere is taller than earth's, but surface pressure is only about 1.5 atm. Gravity is .16e, just so you know.

Flapping to flying? Maybe.

I read that it was 4.6 atm on a site I forgot about. Damn stupid misrepresenting facts...

Anyways, is there anywhere a visual comparison of different atmospheres?

I'm afraid I can't find you one off the top of my head, I'm out in the middle of the Owens Valley looking after a bunch of undergrads. When I saw mine it was in a paper written a while ago. Burn up the lines searching "Titan Atmosphere Diagram" and "Titan Atmosphere Altitude" to find what you want.

I could be wrong, but I'm 98% sure about that 1.5 atm.

If you can't find it, I'm sure one will pop up between now and January 14th;)

There was a joke that the gold medal winner high jumper would go into orbit and become another moon ! :D

I think it's 1.5 atm too. It's still be a lot easier to fly around.

Speaking of, I know someone who's been working on a project to design foldup planes that can be sent in a space probe and dropped into some atmosphere like Titan's to fly around and collect data until the fuel/batteries run out. In fact, several might be scrunched into capsules to be dropped in different areas of a moon or world. That'll be really cool if/when it works. Huygen, after all, will only be able to take pictures of one small area when it lands. Even if there are ethane seas, it might completely miss them and land on some boring plain. It'll be like dropping a single probe into Earth's atmosphere. It's going to miss a lot of cool stuff.
