I have not read the NJO series so my knowledge about the YV is limited. I have a some questions to ask please:
1. How many ships are in their fleet?
2. How many worldships were in the invasion?
3. Does it say how far away their own galaxy is? Also, do they control all of their galaxy?
4. Do the YV incorperate any form of shields, or do they rely only on dovin bassels?
5. One on one, would an SSD destroy a worldship?
6. Were the YV using a full invasion force, or was it just some of their fleet and the rest stayed in their galaxy?
7. To my knowledge the YV are "defeated" in the SW galaxy, but do they still control their own galaxy or, like I asked above, did they send everything and so there is nothing left in their home galaxy?
Thank for any help, I might have some more questions later.

The YV sent everything into the SW galaxy. Their home galaxy was devastated by war, which is why they packed up and left.

Re: Yuuzhan Vong Fleet?
The Yuzzhan Vong. hmmm what a tough group of individuals. The Yuzzhan Vong first took foothold in the galaxy all due to the New Republics failure to take them seriously quickly. The Yuzzhan Vong fleet is made up of millions of ships. The only problem is that their ships are alive, and all alive things get old and witherd and died. It is explained in many books and by many Vong that they were about to all die in the "Great Journey" between galaxies. The ships were on their last legs and the worldships dying. Im not sure if they give any exact distance between galaxies but it took the Vong around 4-5 generations to get to the SW galaxy. Since they were able to take foothold easily through stealth and the ineptitude of the NR they were able to grow thousands of ships the first year of the invasion in such worlds around the outer rim by Helska (the first battle field of Vong vs NR forces, they attaked first on a remote world (if i had my NJO books ill give you exact worlds, ill have them tommorow).Techno_Union wrote:I have not read the NJO series so my knowledge about the YV is limited. The Vong tell tales of great wars between the sentients of their home galaxy. The Vong as well as the reptillian slaves they use as grunt infantry destroyed worlds of their enemies and their enemies destroyed whole worlds of the Vongs as well. Worlds were destroyed in such great magnitudes in these later worlds worse than what a Death Star does. much worse. Their home galaxy is a dead one to say the least.
They deem anything of machine AI to be a sacriligous act and their main form of defense is the dovin basal and it is very good. The Jedi were just able to make force controlled missels and the NR implied a stutter fire techniqhe that does satisfactory work, but dovin bassals are much more usefull than proton shields if used correctly.
A SSD alone will stand no chance against a world ship. The Coral Skippers will tear down its shields with the dovin bassals and with a Yammosk controlling the YV fleet (it most probally would) the YV would be in such unison that the SSD would not take long to be overcome. The YV shields and Weapons pretty much suck and melt away shields and hulls.
The war class of the YV were ultimately defeated with the combined efforts of the NR remenan, the Imperial Remnant, the Chiss and the Hapan Constortium as well as the YV Heritics and Shammed Ones. The Shammed Ones now live on the world of Zenoma Sekot that YV heritic priest (i forgot her name) and Luke, Mara and Jacen found to be a seed of a world planet from the YV galaxy

Re: Yuuzhan Vong Fleet?
Early estimates of their fleet at Sernpidal and Dubrillion counted 1000 warships, divided into battle groups of 25 to 75 ships. However, this estimate was taken in the first months of the invasion, when only the fleet of Supreme Commander Shedao Shai had entered the Galaxy. Soon after, Supreme Commander Nas Choka and Tsavong Lah arrived with many more reinforcements.Techno_Union wrote: 1. How many ships are in their fleet?
The Yuuzhan Vong had a large strategic reserve of several tens of thousands of warships, which they deployed to attack Coruscant. At Ebaq, they also managed to spare several thousand warships (at a time when 1/3 of their military was destroyed) to crush the Republic.
In TUF, over 5000 YV warships were deployed to attack Mon Calamari.
Overall, I would say that low-end the YV probably had something in the range of 50,000 warships. As they easily committed thousands of ships to major engagements, while still being able to properly defend their conquered planets.
It is unkown how many worldships they had, most likely several thousand, as they had to transport the entire YV population and service the warships.Techno_Union wrote:2. How many worldships were in the invasion?
Their galaxy is several centuries of hyperspace travel away. Their galaxy is completely destroyed.Techno_Union wrote:3. Does it say how far away their own galaxy is? Also, do they control all of their galaxy?
See above.Techno_Union wrote:4. Do the YV incorperate any form of shields, or do they rely only on dovin bassels?[/qu[te]
They are entirely dependent on dovin bassals, which only provide mediocre defence.
It really depends on the size of the worldship. The typical YV worldship is only 10 km in diameter, equipped with 1000 coralskippers. While the worlship itself would be an easy prey for a SSD, the coralskippers could very well overwhelm the Star Destroyer. Some worldships, however, are gargantuan, such as the one orbiting Myrkr, which measured 120 km in diameter. Something the size of a moon could easily destroy a SSD.Techno_Union wrote:5. One on one, would an SSD destroy a worldship?
The YV invasion force consisted of absolutely every single Vong there was. Their own galaxy is completely destroyed, which is the reason why they were searching for a new galaxy to inhabit.Techno_Union wrote:6. It was described as the largest single pilot fighter ever created. Which I thought was funny.Lord Pounder wrote:Minor Spoiler!!!!!!!
A SSD, Lusankya to be exact, does destroy a worldship during Rebel Stand, admitidly they do this by crashing said Super Star Destroyer into the local Domain's Worldship but hey, it worked.
Sharky, are you sure it was several centuries away? I thought it was more than that. *shrugs*
