Actually I didn't bail. I was going to wait for a bigger screenshot to put to rest Howedar's idea that the rod is an "optical illusion" then forgot about the thread entirely. Declare victory if you want, it's not my fault if you refuse to suspend disbelief.

Maybe he's checking the Ep. I DVD for evidence that Mace Windu is a shape-shifter (assuming his stand-in is still in the final scene), or that Jar-Jar is some kind of a computer-generated image.

Afterall, what other conclusion can we make when 'suspending disbelief' when the film shows us something that is clearly CG? And those planets are made of paint, I tell you!

I'm still waiting for visual evidence of this metal rod actually being visible. I can tell from some scenes/angles that SOMETHING is visible underneath, but it does not obviously look to be some sort tof "rod" to me (all I can really tell is that the lightsaber in question is not radiating visible light from every angle.)
