Why the right has adopted this stance of unmitigated hatred for anything that does not actively and vociferously support their revision of the past 70 years of social progress frightens me.

Because social conservatism rests on rejecting anything new in favor of 'tradition'. Since many new things are good, they are forced to demonize them endlessly.

For those of you blaming this on Bush, Republicans, etc, what makes you think that? As far as I can tell from their site, they aren't connected to those groups in anyway--it's simply some company trying to cash in on the election.
