It happens. An education program I worked on spent over six months being proofread and corrected, only to ship with environment spelled as enviroment on the packaging.

That's not exactly the same...

no it's not, this is blindingly obvious. So much for quality assurance at the metalworking shop.

What's worse; that it happened at all, or that it was only just now noticed?

I can see how it would be missed. The brain automatically corrects a lot of small errors, which is probably why it took months for anyone to complain to the Port Authority. Still, for something like this, it's unacceptable that they let it get out the door like that.

I almost never proof read what I write here at the board, but at work I read things aloud to myself just to make sure. I'm always catching shit that is wrong on our corporate website. So I can understand how things like this happen, but it is not acceptable.

It's unacceptable that they placed the sign without making sure everything on it was exact. Somebody wasn't doing their job.

I don't know why, but I find that rather hilarious.

Still, this stuff will happen from time to time.

I fail to understand how could they make an obvious mistake like that.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Evilcat4000, we heard ya the first time.

That's quite shocking. I am pretty much ashamed that this happened, I mean come on, how can you forget. I suppose its more the fact that I knew someone who was killed on the second plane. :( I hope they can correct this quickly!

It's because of our irreverent Aussie attitude. I found it fucking funny myself.

It's not like some guy spitting on the plaque, which would be disrespectful (and disgusting). This was just a typo - it shouldn't have happened, but a lot of things in life shouldn't happen. It's not that big a deal, though I hope it is changed and corrected.

It's not that bad, I mean, 11th sep 2002 was a date too, perhaps the proofreaders thought the 1st years anniversary was being mentioned and didn't notice it. I know that's what I thought when I read it, the first time at least.
