By now we should all have seen or heard of the site that puts TIE fighter firepower at 20 watts.
My personal view is that watt in this case is not the standard unit of measurement we are used to, but W.A.T.T., an acronym of unknown origin.
It falls upon us to determine the unit of measurement this acronym stands for.

He is the moment you use a real SI or English unit name you should conform to what that name stands for. AKA a watt is a watt, a joule is a joule, a meter is a meter. a foot is a foot, and a newton is a newton.

Perhaps he thinks if you point a laser pointer at an F-16, it will blow up, considering he thinks a couple hundred watts can destroy a ship that can escape a planet's gravity well on a single tank of fuel, fly without problems after being submerged in a swamp after a rough landing, and can accelerate at thousands of G's. His only sources are thin air, his ass, and only the highest, moss erroneus estimates taken from dialouge. YOu may also notice for SW, he uses some EU estimates, but not others that would hurt his case.
