Isn't the point moot because the enemy would just up the blaster setting from 'kill tha dudez' to 'explode the armour causing deadly shrapnel to shred tha dudez'?

I know. But the shields in Shatterpoint did not. Mace's sabre didn't go out when he slashed at one.
