10 characters, though I don't really feel like going though my password book to check completely.
There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum

8 characters, lower and upper case letters and numbers are the minimum requirements for passwords at the place I work (MIT Media Lab).

19 characters. It's a bunch of random numbers and letters (both lowercase and Caps) with an underscore.

I like using unguessable passwords. Although I shifted this one months ago, and will never use it again.

Most of my passwords aren't that long- my longest are my GPG key passwords, my computer's login password, and the various servers I connect too (longest).

Hmm, I wonder what the feasibility is of grabbing an MD5sum off a random file and using that as the password? :)

BTW my longest one is to my yahoo mail. ~20 characters...

Gah... just discovered my 29 character password was pointless, since shell.berlios.de uses SuSE configured with DES passwords, so it only counts the first 8 characters... considering my password is just a string of dictionary words chained together depending on length for security, that's rather bad...

berlios.de is in bad shape... too bad can't move to sourceforge due to the lack of SVN.

8 digit alphanumeric. It does it's job. Plus I can remember it so I don't have to get any program to do it for me. That IMO is the biggest hole in password based systems.

11 characters has been my longest, though in the advent of passphrases I might improvise on that...

Longest password is eleven characters long, and any program relying on a dictionary would be useless against it. 8)

(Although I don't understand why everyone just doesn't code such that you can only attempt to logon every five seconds, thus defeating a brute-force approach)

For a while I used a password that was 23 characters long. Most of mine tend to be 10-11 long, and never dictionary words.

Long enough. But how long is you bank card PIN number? Most banks only have 4 digit PINs, but mine lets you have as many digits as you care to remember.
