Hell, I live in that town and didn't hear a single word about it. KCRG should have at least mentioned it. Spanky says he knew since he read it in the paper, but he's a putz.

Damned if I knew our town hoarded whackjobs like this. Kind of ironic that the Firemen prevent book burnings here, eh? :P

I'm surprised it didn't get mentioned on KGAN 2 since they run that right wing piece of crap "The Point" at the end of the 10pm news cast.

Wouldn't know if they did, since KGAN has such a half-rate news program. I'd rather watch Waterloo/Coralville's news.

And that's the end of my discussion of "what's on the evening news in Cedar Rapids". :P

BTW, if you're in Iowa, you have to include it in your location. :P

That's the CD melting. Then it starts to burn. And you get gaseous burned plastic stuff in the smoke, which is not the best stuff to breathe or to have smoked into the hot dogs.
My friends do those every summer as some type of ritual. Not religious or anything, but for fun. It can't be good for their health, but I doubt they would listen!

Yes it is, although it makes more sense when you, Spanky and Utsanomiko all know each other. I think Tsyroc is an ex-Iowan. I could've sworn this all came up before. What I find most bizarre is that we're all from the same part of Iowa.
BTW, if you're in Iowa, you have to include it in your location.

That's three, but finding more than that is what's interesting. :P

Yes.

I'd suggest a get-together, but what it'd amount to is basically Uts, Spanky and me hanging out, with you feeling like a fourth wheel. :P

About 3 million. More people in my town than in the state of Wyoming, but then again what town can't that be said about? :P

I know there's at least a 5th person who's location is listed as Iowa, but they don't post much. Might be a 6th as well.

They're hard to meet over here, and usualyl are not very interesting or interested in realistic attributes in men. The only place Cedar Rapids women under 20 spend their nights is either cruising up and down 10 blocks of First Avenue or standing around with a big group of friends in the bowling alley parking lot while they all try to figure out where to spend their evening (usually just end up cruising First Ave). Unless they plan ahead for the weekend and go get drunk in Iowa City.

The only place Cedar Rapids women over 20 spend their nights is in whatever city out of state they moved to. :P

Addendum to the above post:

By the way Bear, how is Wyoming working out for you and the other 12 people who live in that that 98,000 square mile town? I hear they're building another movie theater there. :P

Keep in mind Uts dosen't know what the woman situation at college here in CR is like, because he went to college up in Iowa City... he doesn't know what the woman situation up there is like because he probably never left his room except for classes.

That is correct. I am an ex-Iowan (there is at least one more on the board) but I haven't lived in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area since 1976. I did just return from visiting (ie. painting her house) my grandmother in Iowa City. For some reason she likes to watch KGAN's 10pm news cast. It usually weird's me out because Tiffany O'Donnell (one of the talking heads) was the president of my high school graduating class.

While I was back I visited or was visited by various relatives on both sides of the family and I was a little taken aback from sheer "whiteness" (rural super isolated Iowa/Illinois resident) and/or heavy focus on religion that some of them have. The previous few times I had been back in the last 18 years I hadn't noticed it and two of those times I went to funerals. However, I did make a brief trip to Bettendorf (the last place in Iowa that I lived) and after driving around a bit it reminded me of the very high number of churches that are there and which were there when I was living in that city.

On the up side, I did notice that people were much nicer and more openly friendly (than in Arizona) at the few businesses I visited.

ps. On my very brief stint driving around the University of Iowa I did try to keep an eye open for someone who looks like Spanky.

Possibly it's due to confusion with Smoky the Bear, who came from Yellowstone. Only YOU can prevent forest fires. Yogi the bear comes from Jellystone, which sound a lot like Yellowstone. Since the Yosemite Bear is a bear, and many bears come from Yellowstone, it's easy to make that mistake. Also notice that Yosemite and Yellowstone begin and end with the same letters.
