IE problem.

Post by Crom »

I just installed Yahoo! Messenger and suddenly I can't open more than one window on my web browser. Everytime I do, it just closes the old one and opens up a new one to the new web page. Even Ctrl-N doesn't work, it just pulls the same shit.

Does anyone know how I can reset it so I can open new windows?

The same way you fix every problem with IE.

Install something else.

www.mozilla.org / www.opera.com can help.

Did you install the Yahoo! Toolbar? Maybe it has a popup blocker that doesn't work properly? (I don't use it, just throwing out ideas.)
Later...

That does seem to be how everyone deals with IE. Maybe it's time I upgraded. I was hoping to do that after I upgraded my computer first, though.

Why wait?

Installing Firefox is literally a ten minute job, not even much longer if you're on steam powered internet either, as it's only 9MB to download. (if your computer's really old, Opera has less memory footprint, and is only a 5MB download, with more features than the default Firefox)

I am using an older computer that works pretty well, but I was configured poorly. I was hoping that I could endure using it until I scraped together enough money to upgrade/rebuild it. Right now I'm pretty ignorant of computers.

IE was doing what I wanted, for the most part, until this most recent issue.

Uninstall Yahoo Toolbar and use Google Toolbar instead.

From what I've read though it sounds like there's some setting in Yahoo Toolbar doing that.

Upgrading IE is an excercise in futility. MS haven't updated it in over a year, and it's kinda pointless with things like Firefox running rings around IE in their sleep...

It's hard to want more when you have never had more. I advise you to get more.

Got more? :P

Google Toolbar is lightweight and doesn't suck.
