What Alien vs. Predator movie? I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this movie, so what are you talking about?

All that means is that there are no nipples or bad words. Horrific violence is still A-ok.

Cause we all know that horrific violence is much more appropriate for children then a single tittie. God I wish I lived somewhere that made more sense...

Yeah but some of us prefer a little bit of nudity and dirty language with our violence.

It's a pretty bad thing to see that a movie that sources are rated R become PG-13

But how the fuck is this even remotely newsworthy?

I don't see the big deal. There were no boobs in the first four Alien movies. Well there was that one boob on the fucked up Ripply clone.

I'm rather amused you're so shocked over this. I've assumed from the get-go that it'd be rated PG-13, to maximize profits.

There was a lot of swearing, though. And in order to slip under the MPAA's PG-13 line, you have to keep foul language to a minimum.

Well, there are no marines in the movie. But still, they shouldn't have to limit themselves to hit the magic PG-13.

This is what I don't get is that they tone down movies form R to PG-13 and in doing so make a good movie suck because it can only carry certain things so far.

Starsky and Hutch is a good example. The movie sucked big time. But there was a ton of potential there, they just did not carry some(most actually) of the jokes far enough and then there is the locker room scene where a playboy playmate is changing in front of S&H and they don't show her(much like in the movie Out Cold) any time a woman who posed in playboy is in scene where she is undressing and they don't show anyhing is really shitty.

Anyway back on track, for the most part when they do make movies PG-13 instead of R so that more people can see it, it bombs and makes less money. Why don't they just make it R and let the 16 and under crowd wait a few years then they get them on the rental or DVD sales....

I'd agree with that. A directory has a film in mind and then the studio execs start cutting and interfering in order to get their precious PG-13 rating. The result is a hackjob by definition.

I doubt it matters. Alien Resurrection was rated R and it sucked anyway. At least AvP's rating will spare us lines like "Who do I have to fuck to get off this ship?"

I'm still alittle pissed; however, not all PG-13 films suck ass...look at hellboy or Chronicles of Riddick...etc..

Someone should make a list of movies where the first one was rated R and the second movie was PG-13 to "broden the audence". Find out what percentage of those were crappy and failed.

Off the top of my head: Robocop 3 was PG-13. The first two were rated R

Have a very nice day.

Conan the Barbarian --- > R

Conan the Destroyer ---> PG or PG-13, I've seen it both ways. The PG-13 one was better.

Hopefully this will have less effect on AvP than it would have on Aliens.

I haven't seen the PG-13 version in ages (1980s) but the only bit that I remember that isn't on the PG video tape that I have is you actually see Conan bone that girl he's protecting. No nudity or anything but he does briefly end up with her. She remains pure anyway so she can fufill her mission but that little bit made the movie much more of a Conan movie (he always bangs the girl in the books )

In the PG version there some suggestion that he's getting with her but nothing shown, so really there is no reason not to think that Conan stayed away from her.

Actually the fucked up Conan the Destroyer in lots more ways than just not making it R. They reused the Conan music but toned it down and pussified it. They found even more non-actors to play characters (Grace Jones & Wilt Chamberlain) and then made the mistake of giving them more to do than they gave the football player (Rexor) and the surfer (Conan's theif buddy).

Swen Ole Thorson made it back in another non-speaking part though. :D

This may mean a 12A in the UK then (odd). That's what Episode II should've got instead of a 12 and the cutting out of the headbutt Jango performs to suit (the 12A rating came into use after that film where that headbutt would've passed by).

It does seem odd that this film is going to be that low a rating. I expected a 15 at least.
