Fox News seems to be biased on DNC Coverage

Post by Stravo »

Ok, not an article but I've been switching between MSNBC and Fox and its like two seperate conventions are taking place. MSNBC and other stations are on the street, interviewing people on the floor, etc.

THEN we have Fox and O'Reilly in particular is showing a horrendously different approach, specials about the problems with Kerry, focussing on what Bush is doing today, despite the fact that like any other president before him is laying low during the opposing party's convention, yet we have videos of Condi Rice getting off a plane in Crawford Texas and an indepth discussion of George Bush's mountain biking accident today. This is just absurd to me.

O'Reilly just announced that Hillary was introduced and then with a fucking smirk says "to what sounds like enthusiastic applause." A fucking SMIRK when he says it. This is a tad ridiculous, Now he's interviewing Ralph Nader who has been banned from the DNC and is injecting little things like "What would you have done on 9/11 as a response, and keep in mind that 9/11 would have happened no matter who was president." Gee Bill, thanks for the assist on that one. Ass.

I know to many here this is old hat about Fox but it just really irked me all day today.
Wherever you go, there you are.

I've been watching it on CNN, which has been covering it pretty well. Watching it on FOXNews is kind of annoying.

The sad thing is O'Reilly actually said with a straight face his coverage of the election would be fucking fair and balanced. What a fucker, why does he pretend to be in the middle?

Speaking of the DNC, did anyone see Al Gore go? He looks like he got a charisma upgrade and what appears to be a turtlewax. Why couldn't he have been that great a speaker four years ago?

I made a point of watching FOXNews when I was down there, and I couldn't fucking believe it. I had read their articles on their website before, and seen clips, but it was fucking unreal to actually watch them in action. My favourite was Hannity and Colmes. WHERE THE FUCK WAS COLMES? I never saw him. All I saw was Hannity interviewing a Republican congressman, throwing him such tough non-partisan questions as "John Kerry seems to be contradicting himself pretty badly by flip-flopping on <insert issue here>. What do you think that says about Kerry's honesty?" And of course, the Republican congressman would respond that yes, John Kerry is indeed a dishonest fuck. No democrat in sight, no Colmes, just Hannity and this Republican congressman jerking each other off for half an hour straight. People who use the term "intellectual circle-jerk" need to watch FOXNews to see what a real intellectual circle-jerk looks like.

The worst thing is that after constant exposure to this drivel, people become accustomed to it. Give people something for long enough, and you create a "new normal", so that CNN (which people in most of the world view as rather jingoistic) becomes viewed as left-wing extremism to balance out FOXNews' right-wing extremism.

This is why I've been watching ugly women disco and rich white men tell lies on C-SPAN.

There's something so....EARNEST...about grassroots Democrats that makes your head hurt. At least when a Republican fucks you up the ass, when he gets done, he goes play golf and leaves you alone. Democrats seem to want to fuck you up the ass and then lecture you about affordable health care for four hours.

To be truthful, I don't watch talking heads on either network, I just
flip Fox on for breaking news. Screw the talking heads on all of them.

I usually find both conventions to be so ridiculously pretensious and stupid that it's hard NOT to make fun of whichever party's it is.

However, for someone even impersonating a journalist to do something like that is going way, way, way beyond the bounds of ethical treatment.

Hume is da' Man!

I remember him covering Jackson's campaign in 88, and how thoughful and level headed he was. Hume is the main reason I dumped CNN in favor of FNC. He is head and shoulders above Woodruff, Blitzer and Schnider. Tony Snow wasn't bad either, but he seems to be focused on radio now. I have yet to make my mind up about Chris Wallace.

Hume is thoughtful and level headed? One of the guys on Fox News own program, Fox News Watch, admitted he was a Republican spin-meister. In those words.

Wow, looking at the DNC/RNC coverage thread on sb.com and this one, it's like black & white, and I don't just mean that I have a black theme on sb.com and a bright one on sd.net.

I've been watching it on CNN, which has been covering it pretty well. Watching it on FOXNews is kind of annoying.
Seven Hours of "Specials" about folks in the DNC plus 15 minutes of floor shots is not a good covering

Speaking of Foxnews and MSNBC and CNN I can speak abit better for what exactly they cover on those channels mostly because that is the only channel I can get (At work in the hole) aside from TechTV(Which we have since got handed down a ruling saying we can't watch anymore because they run Girl Gone Wild Videos Comercials)

That being said I sit twenty feet away from a nice TV were I enjoy between 36 to 58 hours of MSBC, CNN, or Fox News each week because we always have the TV on if nothing else than to perserve Sanity
(This is also the reason why I used to post 40-70 times a day on this board because my old position had me infront of a TV AND a spiffy outside line connected to the Internet were I spent 40-62 hours each week infront of because it was next to my acutal work)

Speaking of Sanity did you know in your typical 24 Period that Bill O' Riley's show is played Four times a day on the Fox News Channel?
I never knew this until one day(It was a Friday) I had to sit a 24 hour watch and I saw that show four times that day, it was funny the first time but being all four were the same show it soon got mind-numbing

Because he hadn't lost his political career yet. Al Gore's trademark was his staid and stoic lack of any passion, but he doesn't have to do it anymore. Also, people going through periods of stress sometimes come out much better adjusted. We know he felt like shit after Bush won (he gained a bunch of weight and changed his look with a beard), and wouldn't you feel bad if you were sure that you had been elected president... except that it didn't turn out that way?

Heh, right now FOXNews is covering the DNC by having Hannity and Newt Gingrich go on and on about how liberal everything there is and how conversative religious folks aren't being represented in the speakers. Way to cover the convention, FOX.

CNN was doing some old tyme Kerry bashing, comparing John Kerry wearing safety gear at NASA to Dukakis in that tank.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

What the fuck do they want? Equal opportunity?

I just want to see how they cover the RNC, so we can clearly see the difference between the two.

And you KNOW the RNC is going to milk 9/11 for all it's worth, especially since it appears to be Bush's entire reelection platform.

The snippet I saw was Hannity feeding Newt Gingrich opportunities to bitch about the lack of pro-life speakers and the lack of "Conservative Catholics, Orthedox Jews, and Fundementalist Christians" (his words) speaking. I didn't see much of the interview, I'm afraid, since I wasn't in control of the remote, but it seemed to be Conservative Critique time.

I agree, watch it on C-Span. No commercials and no talking heads. It's nothing but the convention with no commentary at all. The most they do is try to find interesting looking people in the crowd, though if I recall correctly, they did catch Shrillary looking bored and distracted during Obama's speech. I might be misremembering that, though.
