Barack Obama's Speech

Post by HemlockGrey »

Anyone see it? What'd everyone think? I think he was obviously the best speaker at the convention.

Brilliant. Just brilliant. The best speaker so far, hands down. I think Chris Mathews said something like 'A star is born' in reference to his speach and i agree.

FANTASTIC. Very moving and the best part is that he used language of the conservatives to forward Democratic ideals. Bob Dole gave the speech an A+. I unfortunately (or fortunately) did not get to see Fox's coverage.

Ron Regan Jr's speech is eloquent and explains the complexity of Stem cell research.

I really liked Barack Obama's speech. He's an excellent orator.

Ron Reagan's speech was a well written speech and spelled out stem cell research very well. My only problem with his speech is his cadance, but that isn't really a problem..

Watch this guy. Especially if Kerry loses. Hell, I'm ready to vote for the guy right now.

All right, I Googled it. It's here if anybody's interested. You'll have to do a free registration at the Atlanta Journal Constitution to see it.

Yes, very great guy, and I can believe all the hype around him as being the "rising star" in the Democratic Party.

My favorite line of his was something like: "People need to turn off the TV... and when a black child is reading a book, others need to stop calling him white."

The exact line is:
Obama wrote:Go into any inner city neighborhood, and folks will tell you that government alone can't teach kids to learn. They know that parents have to parent, that children can't achieve unless we raise their expectations and turn off the television sets and eradicate the slander that says a black youth with a book is acting white.
Which is a kickass line.

Just reading the line doesn't do it justice. Obama has a hell of a delivery and he had the Fleet Center on its feet with that one.

He's up and coming now because he's basically guaranteed a seat in the US Senate, now that his opponent, Jack Ryan, withdrew because of the messy divorce with Jeri Ryan.

EDIT: By the way, Obama's speech is here as a Real Player stream, in case you missed it.

That stream quality is appalling. Good speech though.

The stream seems to be down. Any chance anyone else could post something similar? I'd surely like to hear what everyone's raving about.

I watched the speech a little while ago. The guy is very articulate and passionate. Whoever writes his stuff is excellent. Though I have to confess, after hearing him talk a little bit about his history and the immediately start saying, "This year, the Democrats have nominated a man who embodies all of these ideals," I thought, "What, they nominated you?" :)
