Its truly amazing the lengths people will go to to show that Jesus wasn't saying what he obviously meant and what his followers obviously understood him to mean. Check the Mark 9:1 thread in Bible discussion.

Never have I seen such circular reasoning. They start with the premise "Jesus is never wrong" and work back from there; inventing half-assed, ridiculous rationalizations to preserve this unjustified dogma! Instead of looking at the evidence in front of the them first, they make up their mind and then fit all the evidence into their predetermined mindset.

How is it a debate when evidence is ignored and posts that do not conform to the views of the mods are deleted? It seems that it's either their way or their way. The only result of debating using your standards is deletion and banning.

Verilon, actually you can prove that the Bible is illogical, etc. without using logic. Remember what Darth Wong said about logic. All you have to do is say that the Bible is illogical.

"If an argument is illogical, it means that the conclusion does not follow from the premises"

In other words:
"In short: if you try to argue that something is true rather than simply saying "it is because I say so", you are trying to use logic, whether you admit it or not."

All you have to say is that the Bible is wrong because you say so.

Your standards:

The Bible is the infallible word of GOD and must be unquestionably accepted as truth.

Homosexuals are abominations to God and should not be allowed to post.

Wherever science and logic contradict the bible, the bible wins.

Obviously, if people followed your standards, we'd still believe that the sun orbits the Earth, the dark ages would have extended to today, the computer you used to post that asinine comment wouldn't exist, and worst of all, we would never have discovered anal! Obviously, your standards are flawed.

As for wrecking your board, you did that to yourself when you started banning people for thinking rationally. When you are ready to ask questions instead of assuming that you already have the answers, then we'll talk.

SBollinger especially was perfectly willing to argue with me in the Mark 9:1 thread until I made a post showing the scholarly consensus on the meaning of a word (which he had been vaguely appealing to the entire debate), upon which he promptly locked the thread, and banned me when I opened a new thread questioning him. His excuse? It was a 'cut and paste', even though his very first post on the Mark 9:1 thread was a cut and paste. Your admin is a hypocrite and a moron.

Your "standards" are to immediately delete anything you don't like, rather than dealing with it logically. You ban posters for "trolling" when all they're doing is trying to make points, so you can continue to spread ignorance and lies without shame. Not a reasonable "standard" at all.

Here's a challenge: I'll make a dedicated forum in which only two people can post: you and one of our guys. No one else will be able to do anything to it. If you've got the balls, try debating one-on-one, on a level playing field.

Well It just so happens that i am a homosexual. And I see many things about the "Gay agenda" and guess what we do have an agenda. And would you like to know what ir really on it? Well whether you want to know or not I will tell you anyway.

1. To be free from discrimination based on sexual orientation.
What this means is that we would like to be treated fairly. We would like to be secure in employment and free from possible termination of our jobs because our boss is a homophobic bigot. It just so happens that religion is also protected by anti-discrimination laws. you choose your religion, I do not choose my sexual orientation. If anything I am more entightled to such protections than you are.

2. To be able to love and be intimate with the person of my choice without the threat of imprisonment. Did you know that In the state of i daho i can be imprisoned for life, for no other reason than being intimate with my boyfriend? In Idaho I am viewed as more of a public menace than a first degree murderer.

3. To be protected from harassment and hate crimes by law.
Without laws to protect me my school would not be willing or even be able to protect me from harassment based on my sexual orientation. Someone could beat my black and blue and the school would not be able to do anything but suspend the person for three days. I find it ironic that religion is protected under anti-discrimination laws as well.

The same arguments you are using now where used to deny the sdame rights of African Americans, women, and all the other minorities in this country. And yet i a homosexual am still living in fear. There is something terribly wrong with that picture.
