Statistics
I was reading the statistics for a star wars ship and it said this:
Speed: 6 MGLT
Hull: 77,710 RU
Shields: 136,000 SBD
What do MGLT, RU, and SBD mean in star wars??

Likely nothing except some terminology within the SW universe that alone pertains to that universe.
It follows no SI terminology.

As far as I know they are used as in game stats to track game damage in the X-Wing series. Now using those stats makes a ship weaker than it should be. Now if The X-Wing Series had a recharge rate for ships a fighter would most likely never kill one without warheads.

That was disapointing ..Should we show this Federation how to build a ship so we may have worthy foes? Typhonis 1

Its a device that simulates the gravity well of a planet forcing units equipted with hyperdrives to stay in real space unless they take the time to disable their Hyperdrive safety systems which is generally a BAD idea. It holds opponents in a battle zone preventing escapeR.O.A wrote:Ok well if knows one know that then what is a gravity well projector?? Ive been trying to figure that out.

For in game terms, yes. But those aren't the units SW uses, that is a Lucasgames thing only. Go to the SWTC and read the Standard Units page.R.O.A wrote:Ok I figured everthing out.

"Megalights" is a myth, the term is never defined in the games.R.O.A wrote:Ok I figured everthing out.

They're also wrong, as we've seen Star Destroyers keep pace with the Falcon in the movies.

hmmmm
I've been out of the loop so long that I don't remember the source, and I'll freely admit that there's a very good source the original source was bogus, but I seem to recall seeing MGLT listed as "Modern Galactic Light-Time" - does anyone else recall this acronym?

Re: hmmmm
Apparantly MGLT was first used in production drawings for the OT describing the relative 'speeds' of the various starships. IIRC it puts the A-wing slightly faster than the interceptor at about 120ish, ISD and MF the same at 60, and TIE and X-wing the same at 100. It was used as a guide when filming, so its not canon or anything. The games (PC and RPG) just ripped them off.Darik Sdair wrote:I've been out of the loop so long that I don't remember the source, and I'll freely admit that there's a very good source the original source was bogus, but I seem to recall seeing MGLT listed as "Modern Galactic Light-Time" - does anyone else recall this acronym?

Within the X-Wing game, 1 MGLT corresponds to (IIRC) 100 m/s of speed (edit: and I didn't recall correctly, it's 1 m/s for each MGLT). A guy actually measured it by flying along a ISD and timing it with various craft.
And the speeds were as follows:
80 MGLT TIE Bomber, Y-Wing
93 MGLT B-Wing
100 MGLT TIE Fighter, X-Wing
110 MGLT TIE Interceptor
120 MGLT A-Wing
133 MGLT TIE Avenger
I don't recall the TIE Defender or Missile Boat's top speed (and don't have the games installed). The T/I might have been 111. Small difference either way.
The RU and SBD are apparently arbitrary measurements, particularly as the X-Wing's shields never seemed that effective on screen.

My memory is a bit vague right now... Hadn't the Falcon been damaged or its impulse system damaged shortly before departing Hoth?StarshipTitanic wrote:"Megalights" is a myth, the term is never defined in the games.

In XWA. In Tie Fighter, it's a bit higher (IIRC its 152 MGLT). The same goes for the Missile Boat. It was also slowed down (not to mention having its SLAM feature removed).Crazedwraith wrote:TIE Defender= 144 megalights.
