I know a gentleman that has a 54'' chest. You'd not tell it by looking at him, but when he straightens up and breathes deep, his ribcage and chest swells to 54''.
I know because I'd needed his measurements for doublet I was making for him.

Now that I think about it, I know more than one... Cai, Mathias, Ogre, Cunneda... they all have 50'' or more chests when they breathe in and hold.

Maybe it's an SCA thing.....

Does he also have a 34" waist and weigh 220lbs? Wayne Poe probably has a 55" chest too (no offense Wayne, just picking a random example).

One of the reasons 1234ninja's 55" was most incredible was his bodyweight. (We'll just ignore his bizarre claim that flexing his giant lats accounted for 8" of that figure

Though I suppose there are rare exceptions--hunchbacks, guys with freakishly large ribcages--generally speaking, you simply won't find that kind of size on a 220 lber; and most certainly, not on someone with a 34" waist to match.

To use myself as an example, I have a 50" chest. I'm 5'6", and weigh 240 lbs. Our waist measurements aren't too dissimilar, either, with me at 35" and Ninja's at an imaginary 34"

So, I'm three inches shorter, 20 lbs. heavier, and can't be too much fatter than he is, but in spite of my greater "thickness," his chest is five inches bigger than mine?

Had he not tucked his tail between his legs and run, I imagine he would've gone on to boast about his 500 lb. bench presses, 700 lb. squats and 800 lb. deadlifts. All things being equal, someone with a 55" muscular chest should be able to handle all of those for repetitions.

Or perhaps not. I bet good money he'd say he hurt his back/knees/hips (pick one or two) and hence, couldn't squat and deadlift anymore. I hear that one every day

With all respects to Cai, I'd imagine his waist is, while not flat-out huge, not some 21" smaller than his chest either (the differential 123Ninja claimed which, incidentally, would be greater than Arnold's chest-waist ratio at his peak in '74).

Still, even assuming 260 and some plumpness, that's a very big chest circumference for his weight. So I see what you mean

No doubt there are, but as I said before, Wayne Poe probably has a 55" chest too. And Mr. EliteMoron was even stupid enough to claim that his normal chest measurement is 47", ie- that his chest swells by 8" from simply flexing his muscles.
