Another escapee from the psycho ward

Post by Darth Wong »

Read this person's E-mail all the way through, and then try to tell me you don't think he's unhinged :)
Name: USS Ticonderoga NCC-91000
E-Mail: zeoranger7orange@yahoo.com
Comments: Hi, My name is Captain Wilson of the Federation Starship U.S.S Ticonderoga. I have visited this site just out of curiosity. I am amazed at the content of the website towards trekkies and star wars people. I appreciate you trying to see a little bit of goodness towards the Federation, even though we are totally different worlds. I have read that you have stolen some of the Federation's data on the Galaxy-Class Starships. Well, One of our intelligence members have stolen the schematics and designs for your Imperial Class Star Destroyer. We are building the Federation's first destroyer, the F.S.D Europa. I'm not here to put you or any of star wars fan down. I'm just saying that I have a healthier respect for the Federation than the Imperial Empire. I do like the empires taste of starship designs. Let me just say this, the Federation is just as big as a threat to the empire as the Rebellion. But we have much, much, more ships and weapons than they have. The Federation will be ready to take on the empire If you need anybody to enlist in your empire, help recruit members the Maquis, their out for Federation blood. I don't know about you, but with the condition your empire is in, the Federation will crush the empire like a bug. If not us. The Borg will sure will. We'll be watching you...each and every one of you.

Either he's mistaken the site for a roleplaying one or really is unhinged.

Nniiiccee.

Mike, back away from his email very slowly. What he has might be contagious.

Why are there so many people with so much time on their hands?! Go write a book, build something, go sand a deck, put a car engine together. For fuck's sake people.
Wherever you go, there you are.

He could have at least tried to write either normally or completely in character, rather than that bizarre mish-mash. perhaps, if any part of the e-mail showed even the least bit of brain function, I would think it was a veiled criticism of the way your site is written, with some pages made as an imp officer and most as yourself, but obviously, he's not that bright.

Are you planning on asking him for any sort of proof to his claims, or are they already to well refuted to be worth the effort?

I picture a lonely middle aged man posting at his parent's computer from their basement wearing a red jumpsuit and plastic pointy ears.

Oooooookay.

That was hilarious. Some of these people are seriously messed up, and this is one of them. Where do they come from, though? How can someone like this exist in the real world? Does he?

Hush... The ScienceOfficer for the USS West Virginia lives in my apartment building.

He's somewhere over 40, autisic, and can quote military history, navy history, and TOS trivia in fervent detail. The kind of detail that makes even hard-core trekkies want to get AWAY.

He's also a ranking Herald in the SCA. And he is equally knowledgable in SCA history.

And he has very little idea of what 'bathing' or 'washing clothes' means.

I don't suppose anyone considered he might be writing that exotic thing known as a joke?

C'mon, he's retreading the "Fed can analyze and duplicate Imp ships" argument, among others. He's just doing it with a little roleplaying, a counter-point to DW's "Imperial officer" bit on the site.

One word: scary. What's even more scarier is that it isn't one of the disciples from Stewart's Stratigic Defense Instatute.
In the words of William Shatner: Get a life. When you done that, you could come back and discuss properly.

One major distinction: I never actually identify myself as that officer. My real name and normal earthbound location are clearly attached to everything I write. That's the disturbing thing about certain Trekkies; they start blurring their Star Trek imaginary personae and their real lives together. Watch the "Trekkies" documentary sometime.

I agree with Faqa that this is someone simply trying to get into the spirit of the main site. Perhaps if his writing skills were better ("The Borg will sure will"), it might have come across better. The tell is in that last line. Watching each and everyone of us? Doesn't sound like someone who takes this too seriously.

At the very least, it could have been a fun exchange. If there was anything worth responding to in the message, that is.

No, I tend not to respond to people who try to roleplay with me, especially when they're hiding behind Yahoo addresses.

Well, he may be trying to role-play with you. Its possible he never read anything from the main site other than the home page.

At least I hope that's the explanation. The alternative is scary.

Have a very nice day.
