Marriage Admendment:Missouri

Results are partially in: 60% for the admendment 40% against. "Stating that marriage is between a man and a woman".

These are partial results so it may get closer as the large urban areas get tallied.

Still a loss though for gay rights activists.

As I commented on another forum, the results being this close in Missouri make me think that a similar admendment won't get passed in Mass.

Though currently it's 72/27.

70% of the vote is a pretty resounding majority. I think you could also look at this and see clearly how conservative Missouri is becoming, and I also believe that bodes well for George W. Bush.

It likely won't. Conservatives will just cry "Judicial Activism!" when that happens and the issue won't be put to rest, because I'm sure that some members of the Senate would keep pushing for a Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage federally.

Wasn't 'judicial activism' precisely what the SCOTUS is there for? The U.S. government is designed the way it is to make sure power doesn't run unchecked into one single person or governmental body.
