Anyone seen the new ad from the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth organization?

You can see it at www.swiftvets.com

If this is true, this is some dirty and ugly truth that'll be hard to hide.

Well, you should never believe or trust anything you see in a political ad without doing your homework. It's devastating if the charges and accusations made here hold water, but it could be equally devastating for the Republicans if they embrace the ad and it turns out to be a sham.

This as seems so "dirty" that I think it may end up hurting both parties... I already seen McCain is asking the White House to condemn it. Frankly, Bush should condemn if, especially if his organization had nothing to do with it.

"I served with John Kerry" is an interesting way of describing the truth, which is "I served on a swift boat, just like John Kerry, and I was in Vietnam, just like John Kerry".

And that one photo proves they actually served with Kerry how? Just because they were once in a picture with him doesn't really prove much.

That photo's apparently of most of the officers of Coastal Division 11,
which Kerry spent most of his abbreviated 4 month tour of Duty in Nam
on Swifts.

It's a bit ironic. But then again Bush also didn't use his national guard service as a major selling point in his campaign either.

So a group of people with ties to the Republican party are saying that what Kerry said to the Senate in 1979 was wrong, and Kerry's medals were bogus. The first is hearsay; we'll never know what really went on there. Their stories are not "facts"; those statements are completely unverifiable.

Secondly, if they have a problem with him having medals, maybe they should take it up with the people that issued him those medals. It's not like he fucking went to the store and bought the things.

Well I think some of those people in the photo had a problem with Kerry using it for his bid for POTUS. Since most of them in the photo don't support him, I'm sure they wanted that fact known.

Well accirding to the Drudge Report ( www.drudgereport.com ) the DNC lawyers have started sending letters to TV stations asking them to not air the ad because it is libelous (sp?) and the stations would be held accountable.

Shepster, you are too dumb a twat to traffic in innuendo (which, for the record is NOT a Portuguese suppository) like that. Kerry's tour was cut short because of his wounds. If you were wounded more than twice, they let you go home. My dad got to return to Bragg three months early because of a tiny piece of shrapnel in his left cheek which looked like a giant chigger bite. You try to make it sound like Kerry was a deserter from REMF duty in the Guard like Dubya.

Of course, Bush supporters could try to create an ad with Bush's comrades from Guard duty who remember serving with him. The problem is, they can't find any.

The man who claims he was "there" wasn't on board Kerry's boat and the crew and the SF lieutenant Kerry saved all back Kerry's version of events. These "veterans for truth", who were trotted out by Watergate felon Charles Colson's old stooge, John O'Neil, are lying scumbags and a disgrace to the uniform they once wore. In fact they are a disgrace to ANY uniform (including Burger King and prison orange).

By the way, Bush has tried to pass himself off as a veteran with that Top Gun stunt on the carrier last year. But given his status as a deserter, he might as well have put on a Fedora, picked up a bullwhip and tried to pass himself off as Indiana Jones!

Interestingly enough, Bill O'Reilly spent an hour on the radio blasting this ad. He said something close to DW's point, and in fact said that all but one of his Swift boat's crewers support him.
I don't like a lot of what Billy says, but he does occasionally go after the cons.
