I'd be willing to host an SD.net beauty show for the ladies. After all, I'm pals with most of them anyway and I know how to not be stupid about such a thread.
I'd go for a "'And then I saw her face...': the SD.net Female Headshot contest". No swimsuits, no b00bees, not even shots of their figures if they don't want to post picts of them. As far as I'm concerned, the most beautiful part of a woman his her expressive, lovely face anyway. That's where her beauty comes out. That's why I'd be willing to host a headshot contest for our wimmins on the board.

They asked for topless pictures of us. What's the difference?Ghost Rider wrote:I still find it a bit crass to ask for topless pictures of women we know on a cursory basis.

Technically speaking there is no difference since both are legal in Canada, going around topless in public that is. However, let me put it to you another way, which picture would you be more willing to post on this board, a topless one of your brother or a topless photo of your wife?Darth Wong wrote:They asked for topless pictures of us. Since my brother goes around topless in public all the time, that's easy. But I wouldn't have a problem with posting a topless picture of my wife if she didn't. The real point is that the request is not inherently "crass" just because the genders have been reversed.jmac wrote:Technically speaking there is no difference since both are legal in Canada, going around topless in public that is. I don't mind a Miss SDN\Aphrodite contest in which we only get to see them fully clothed. The only thing I ask is that the picture has to be recent (within a year) and clear.
The only reason I haven't participated in the Adonis contest is that I don't feel comfortable at the moment in having a shirtless pic posted on the net.

I just really never approach it on a weboard to ask women to go topless...perhaps my upbringing or whatnot.

GR, you went and edited. Curse you.
*shrug* I did send that little list of mine to Raine before I posted it here. If SoS wants to discuss it, fine. If any want to participate, the more the merrier. Mike has a point, but I suppose it's a societal thing we're dealing with.
Again my first two choices are meant to include all. Some females may not mind, so if they want to, they can. I suppose depending on any turnout it would just be in different categories or whatnot. I put in fully clothed to try and help them out.
I guess it comes to this: they had no real problem with the Miss SD.Net contest, right? So, aside from a bit more prep being put into this (ie, taking a picture specifically meant for the contest, much as Adonis participants would've), what is the difference exactly?
The only one I can see is the completely optional topless and/or swimsuit categories for any who care to. The third category, and the one I suspect most females would feel most comfortable with, is simply another Miss SD.Net, except they'd have to put a bit more effort into it by taking a picture meant specifically for it.
So what's the problem then?

Rogue...read both my posts.
I had a problem with the first two...and the reasons therein.
I never mentioned a problem with the last one because that wouldn't be so bad.
I just feel like muse, Zaia, and jmac said at the beginning.
If they want it to happen, it'll happen.

I did. I recognized the problem. I really do.Ghost Rider wrote:Rogue...read both my posts.

That wasn't really directed at you. Mostly at those who seem to have a general problem with it. Though I will conceed it's most likely a case of everyone focusing on the topless/swimsuit issue to the exclusion of everything else.I never mentioned a problem with the last one because that wouldn't be so bad.
EDIT: The whole "special effort" part behind the pics is to be make it Adonis-like, while not making it too uncomfortable for all our female members, in case I didn't make that clear beforehand.
That kinda goes without saying. Just like Adonis would never have happened had none of the guys wanted to participate.I just feel like muse, Zaia, and jmac said at the beginning.
If they want it to happen, it'll happen.
Though I guess it is fair to warn up front there will probably be some drooling done in jest. If it was fair game in Adonis, it'll most likely be fair game in any Aphrodite contest, too.

Why can't we just have the girls choose whatever they wear/not wear, as long as they make themselves look beautiful for the guys of SDnet? Topless, wedding gowns, catsuits, whatever. I want to see pics, damn it!

Percentage-wise more women posted in the Miss SD.net contest than men posted in the Adonis awards, considering there are about 16 females total on the board and around 1800 men. I don't remember how many ladies took part, but it was a few, and under 50 guys posted in the Adonis awards.Uraniun235 wrote:I'm pretty sure the last time this concept was brought up, the contest didn't even involve toplessness and it still went nowhere.Shroom Man 777 wrote:Why can't we just have the girls choose whatever they wear/not wear, as long as they make themselves look beautiful for the guys of SDnet?

No, because the corsets are basically required to get into Victorian-era dresses.
