Praetor-class star battlecruiser
LENGTH:
> several miles long
MANUFACTURER:
Kuat Drive Yards ???
SIGHTING:
Before Battle of Hoth.
Some of reactor equipment powering the Echo Base on Hoth was scavenged from one of the Empire's Praetor-class star battlecruisers. This would be larger and more powerful hardware than the equivalent components (from a star destroyer) used at the earlier base on Yavin 4. [Inside the Worlds of Star Wars] This ship [detailed shape not yet published] must be an intermediate of size and power between the destroyers and the Executor dreadnought documented in the movies. 0

I can't believe you'd put sex before Star Wars. You must be getting soft in your old age there.

Greater than several, eh?

So I'd say we're looking at > 3.2 km. Probably more like > 5 km.

Could this Praetor class not be the class that the 10 km Vengeance belongs to?

I would guess that this ship is perhaps a new vessel we'll see in ROTS. It's not unlikely that Saxton would get sneak peeks into ILM, after all he'll probably be working on the ROTS ICS.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

I really hope this to be the case. Also note that he changed the text regarding the AT-AR. When Saxton called it Medium Biped #2, he wrote that it was concept from TESB but left unfilmed. Now the text says 'left unfilmed (at least for now)'. I found that tidbit interesting.

Just to tell you all, the Sandtroopers present on Tatooine during ANH are identifed as "the Empire's clone soldiers".

Hmm, so was Davin Felth the only non-clone Stormtrooper assigned to the Tattooine detail?

I'm pretty sure that's confirmed. I for one think it would suck if the largest ships present at the ROTS battle were fucking TF Battleships. We already know the Venator-class ships aren't huge.

How so? I didn't really see any scaling clues in the press release shot, but the preproduction art that came out in SWI showed them being big

It's much smaller. The biggest ships in the opening battle so far are the Trade Federation battleships. This week's homing beacon describes a scenario with a Venator and a Trade Federation battleship that should give some ideas as to size.

I asked that question about the Venator-class Star Destroyer in the Drop Box. I had hoped that we would get some more specific info (especially regarding scale) compared to an ISD. Unfortunately, we got this rather ambiguos answer. We don't really know yet how the Venator-class Star Destroyer looks like (besides from the few animatic shots shown over at Hyperspace) or anything like that.

Oops, sorry VT-16. I should have noticed that (especially since your post was right above one of mine). Great find!

It´s ok, I was just wondering if this was a new additon to the entry or not. Wonder if it´s got something to do with the ESB DVD coming this autumn, or the rumored "Super-fantastic-we-promise-it´s-the-last-time-2007-mega-über-deluxe-edition-DVD"...

On the map of Tatooine, they outline the routes taken by the various parties throughout the movies. Interesting to note is that R2 covers something around 100 miles the night he escapes from Luke. This probably gives him a top speed of about 15 mph, since it can't have been much more than 8 hours before Luke and 3PO meet up with him in the Jundland Wastes.

In Luke's bedroom on Tatooine, he has a small computer which he uses to talk to his friends. Luke's an internet junkie, just like us!

  • Owen and Beru sleep in seperate twin beds. They're like parents in an old TV show.
  • Never fear - the Lars family does have a toilet and shower.
  • The page on Tosche Station is pretty detailed. Any word on whether or not the Tosche Station scene has made it in to the DVD deleted scenes?
  • Important one: "After seeing Anakin's lightsaber, C-3PO's protocol programming requires him to request that he shut down to protect his ex-owner's secrets" - does that put the kibosh on the "memory wipe" theory? I for one hope so.
  • And for anybody who still doesn't like the Jedi robes - "Jedi robe resembles simple clothing worn by species throughout galaxy" I don't know why people have a problem with that.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

That's over very rough terrain, though, which makes it VERY respectable--far better than a running human could hope to do.
