I'll swear of SW forever if Lucas does something so stupid.
The problem is that with all the crap GL has pulled in recent years I can almost imagine him doing something like this, all the while convinced that it is stroke of genious and pretending that it was all part of his great machiavellian master plan he originally cooked up in the mid seventies and that this was the way it was supposed to be from the start.
Your disgust with the idea is only matched by the idea's stupidity. It is, IMO, propagated by idiots who haven't been following the behind the scenes chatter of the PT
at all. It's a
stupid twist, it's been disavowed more than once from practically the top, IIRC. Fucking hell, it's just so STUPID. It probably originated with some dumbass who doesn't even know Ian McDiarmid played the Emperor in ROTJ.
If there's one thing that shits me about Star Wars, its that special category of dumbass fans that thinks up the really dumb fucking ideas for plot developments in the PT and stupid, fanboy-reek changes in the OT (like the ever popular, fucking moronic, Padme in Episodes IV-VI or whatever).
