Clinton on the Daily Show

Post by SyntaxVorlon »

Bill was just on, trying to be nonpartisan while calling the republican propaganda machine a bunch of douche bags. I liked the interview, though Clinton looked a mite slow to get into the discussion, he responded well to Stewart. Thoughts?

Also, what did you guys think about Colbert's look at the Democratic Demographic?

Colbert: INTENSELY funny.

Clinton: Once again, why in the hell did we elect Bush?

Colbert, as always, was hysterical. Clinton, as always, was articulate. The headlines were great, too. "They served in Vietnam with Kerry ... in the sense that Snoopy served with the Red Baron."

Didn't Snoopy serve on the opposite side of the Red Baron? From what I remember, he was always trying to shoot him down.

 That letter home from the doctor was hilarious.

I thought the interview with Clinton was boring, does anyone seriously want to see a softball interview?

Indeed, they cut up that attack ad in beautiful fashion.

What's he supposed to hardball him on? The man left office 4 years ago, so he's only relevant to current events as a commentator.

I really enjoyed Clinton's enumerating of the Republicans tactics and you have to wonder why the phone bank calls that accused McCain of having a black baby were not exposed by the media? All I remember was that there was a phone bank calling voters to discredit McCain, but they did not state what the information discreditng him was. I assumed it was lies about the issues.

Perhaps the media was uncomfortable reporting that something like the fact that you have a black child could still sway Southern voters?

And all the other dirty tricks that followed.

It was eye opening and made you just wish that Kerry would unload against Bush. Clinton is right, taking the higher road, invariably leads to you losing. You need to hit back. Its funny how the democrat that won the White House and defended his incumbency is not listened to by the rest of his party come election time. Gore ignored Clinton much to his chagrin and now Kerry seems to be doing the same.

Again we have confirmation that Clinton the man was never very popular within his own party elite. Its a damned shame.
Wherever you go, there you are.

If there's anyone who knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the GOP's guns, it's Clinton. And if there's anyone who knows how to survive those impacts, it's Clinton.

And did anyone else love Stewart's commentary on that McCain clip? McCain is shown talking about the attack ad and how low and dirty it is, and it cuts back to Stewart, who says with deep breaths, "And yet ... I still support ... George W. Bush." *SIGH*

Well that's true, Clinton has retired from the public stage as a center of controversy, but the things Clinton said either weren't that engaging to me, or were already covered by Letterman. Stewart's interviews have historically tended to reveal qualities of the interviewee (Joe Biden calling "my parents were goatherders" crap, for example) that likely wouldn't emerge on the regular gaggle of talk shows.
