What would it take for you to support Bush?

Post by Augustus »

I would like to pose a question to the (for lack of a better phrase) ABB (Anybody But Bush) crowd. Please keep in mind that this is a question posed with as much sincerity as possible, and offered in genuine curiosity.

What one, single action or thing would it take for you to even equally consider supporting Bush and or change you perception of him for the better?

Please don't reply sarcastically. I'm really not looking for a flame war just insight.

If Bush becomes a social liberal I'll possibly vote for him.

Repeal USA PATRIOT, stop cocksucking the Megacorporations, and legalize marijuana.

Yes, I set the bar superhigh, but we should all do that.

It's a silly question. How could one single action or statement possibly reverse all of the things he's said and done over the past 4 years?

So you are going to take the position that nothing will ever allow your perception of him to change? Thats fairly definitive then.

I should have added to the OP the folowing then:

If your answer is "Nothing Ever" then don't bother replying.

The same thing it took for me to support Kerry: an opponent who's even worse.

If he announces that he dropping out of the Presidential race and will not run for office again I'll honestly have respect for the wisdom he showed by doing the US and the world such a favour... other then that I can't imagine any single thing he could do that would significantly change my oppinion of for the better. And no I am not being sarcastic, there just is no single thing that could make up for everything he has said and done during his Presidency.

If he gives me $20 million US in cash with no strings attached and US citizenship.

As for actual policy changes. The war on drugs is done, weed is legalized & sold in cafés. The patriot act is done. CCW everywhere. Highway speedlimits raised to 75mph everywhere, empty states get unlimited speeds. Nuclear power for everyone. That'll be a good start.

The problem is he has a point.

There is no one SINGLE action Bush could do that would make me support him.

A variety of actions...possibly.

A Single Action?

I don't believe he has the ability to rewrite time as we speak.

There's a difference between "no SINGLE action" and "nothing ever", moron.

You need to listen more. There is absolutely nothing Bush can do (singular events) that would ever make me vote for him. He has done so much that he would have to do a lot of different things to make me consider voting for him.

The OP specifically states "one, single action or thing", but then lays out a condition that makes it physically impossible for the OP's terms to be met...

Besides, where would all those podunk self-important small hick towns get 90% of their revenue once speeding tickets are so hard to issue?! :P

Oh I'm so sorry...I didnt mean to offend you. Is it difficult to understand I was trying to keep the thread slightly positive? But hey, what would be more informative than a couple of dozen posts of ....

"Nothing ever ..."

...now why in the fuck did'nt I see that. I mean what a wealth of information. Thats much better than a positive address to the hypothetical.

Bush would have to reveal to the world his secret army of flying pigs.

Look I was trying to form a question honestly to help me understand people's motivations and opinions. If a flame war is the inevitable result of me trying to me asking a honest question then...

...well see ya it's been fun.

Replace "positive" with "pointless" and you'll be closer to the mark. It's a stupid question by its very nature, asking what would make someone who opposes Bush (undoubtedly for many reasons) what SINGLE action would make him change his mind.

In fact, it's an obvious leading question, designed to be so restrictive that the answer is almost certain to be negative, thus giving you an excuse to misrepresent it as close-mindedness. Which is precisely what you did by misrepresenting "no SINGLE action" as "nothing ever".
But hey, what would be more informative than a couple of dozen posts of ....

"Nothing ever ..."
On the contrary, it's quite informative to see you consistently misrepresenting "no single action" as "nothing ever", even after being corrected on that point. It makes it clear that your agenda was to generate an excuse to describe those who dislike Bush as close-minded.
...now why in the fuck did'nt I see that. I mean what a wealth of information. Thats much better than a positive address to the hypothetical.
Your sarcasm is a poor disguise for your dishonesty.
