I'm leery of DK nonfiction crossing into EU, fearing that it could be infected with typical EU and RPG filth.
That said, I vote for the Second Edition of the Classic Star Wars ICS,

I'd say CSW: ICS2
Seriously I would love more on the movies...and if ever the EU material but the little things he brought to the first couple of ICS were excellent.

Everyone knows I've whinged for a second OT:ICS, frankly they should've made one to coincide with the release of the DVDs next month. I'll just cut and paste my typical list that I've got in some notepad file:
- Executor-class Star Dreadnought (in the foldout section)
- Shuttle Tyderian
- Sentinel Landing Craft
- Home One Headquarters Frigate (with an aside about the Liberty)
- A-Wing
- B-Wing
- TIE Interceptor
- TIE Bomber
- Nebulon-B Frigate
- Rebel "Gallofree" transport
- Imperial II Star Destroyer Avenger
- Bespin Skyhopper
The problem is that the average number of specific vehicles the ICS covers is 14.
Can anyone think of any more?

The Rebel transports used to escape from Hoth. I've always wanted to know about how much they could carry.
Unless they're the "Gallofrees" you mentioned.
EDIT: Could the Echo Base be put in? Not a ship, but I think it worth study.

Ditch the Headquarters Frigate stupidity for the [Home One]-class.
Personally, I think the Home One's class should be the Independence-class Star Battleship.
A dedicated [Liberty]-class section (describing both the winged and anonymous pearly wingless variants). I mean come on, if we have the ISD II having a dedicated entry when there's already another ISD in an ICS (though I agree I'd want the ISD II for the stats), than we should have a dedicated spot for Mon Cals. What's the Bespin Skyhopper?
Personally, I'd pull down that Bespin Skyhopper, and add Liberty. We have 12 there. Add the Y-Head Corvette and Comm. Ship.

Communications ship
Instead of Executor fold out, have a fold out that, rather then featuring one big ship, has a number of the odd ships that make up the rebel fleet (liberty, pickle, y head corvette, all those ships BB found)

- Maybe Death Star 2?
- Liberty MonCal - just to hammer in that there was more than one type of MonCal at Endor.
- Snowspeeders (I don't have OT: ICS mk 1, did they have this in?)
Anyone know if these books are more expemsive to make then regular ones (I'd imagine they would be) and if we have a chance in hell of lobbying to get one of or all of these made?

I don't know how much they'd cost to get made. But I think the demand of them fwould be less than the regular ICS. Mainly due to the act most of the vessels would be obscure and the such.Ender wrote:Anyone know if these books are more expemsive to make then regular ones (I'd imagine they would be) and if we have a chance in hell of lobbying to get one of or all of these made?
So I think there's a very small chance of them actually giving in to fan pressure for a second book.

I have to say, though, that the NJO would be the most interesting for me. Not only would it provide new ships (as opposed to A-wings and such, that everyone has seen), but they would also be really cool. As fun as it would be to read through something about the Executor and Communications Ship, all the other ships in the CSW (my runner-up pick) have already been shown in some detail by another source. I would rather have it look at brand new starships than rehash old ones, even if it does a better job. The ITW book has satisfied me about CSW for now. It didn't do everything perfectly, but it did very well. Now I want to see a new group of starships and locations that have never been shown on film.

Maybe we could have polls in other websites, like SW.com or TFN.

A bit obscure. The artists (and Dr Saxton) work off ILM archives- I don't think a model of this ship exists apart from it's unique bridge tower.Stofsk wrote: - Imperial 'Communications' ship
Definitely, good call.- Maybe Death Star 2?
Yeah, so long as they can generate enough different material to differentiate it from the "Home One"/ Headquarters Frigate/ Independence.- Liberty MonCal - just to hammer in that there was more than one type of MonCal at Endor.
Yes.- Snowspeeders (I don't have OT: ICS mk 1, did they have this in?)
Yeah, its just that the stupid name stuck in my head from the novelization. "Home One" sounds like such an obvious call-sign too. Independence-class would be the ideal.Ditch the Headquarters Frigate stupidity for the [Home One]-class.
Personally, I think the Home One's class should be the Independence-class Star Battleship.
The databank, as seems the usual, thinks the Home One was an MC 80.
They are. LinkThe Rebel transports used to escape from Hoth. I've always wanted to know about how much they could carry.

No- its only ships and vehicles. And it's covered in the new ITW, anyway, IIRC.EDIT: Could the Echo Base be put in? Not a ship, but I think it worth study.

Well... we don't see the Sentinel-class lander either; I know putting the Comm ship in would be difficult, but worth it.Vympel wrote:A bit obscure. Opposite side of the Executor Foldout? It'll make a good combo.Definitely, good call.- Maybe Death Star 2?
Just point out how Home One is the big arse ship, while the Liberty MonCal is the winged, smaller ship. Problem solved. I just hate how everyone thinks Home One was smaller than a ISD because it falls under the generic "MonCal Cruiser" designation. It needs to be pointed out it's a bigger boat.Yeah, so long as they can generate enough different material to differentiate it from the "Home One"/ Headquarters Frigate/ Independence.- Liberty MonCal - just to hammer in that there was more than one type of MonCal at Endor.
I can't really think of anything else. What about the speeder bikes from ROTJ? Were they in OT: ICS mk 1?

The problem with that is that it moves out of the purview of DK books- DK seems to pride themsevles with their SW nonfiction books on having access to internal ILM information etc to come up with something really "authentic". I doubt they'd ever do it.Master of Ossus wrote:*Drools*

We do- see the "look sir, droids!" scene in the SE, it was added.Stofsk wrote: Well... we don't see the Sentinel-class lander either; I know putting the Comm ship in would be difficult, but worth it.
Well, I wanted the Executor in the fold-out because it's so huge; but the DS2 is bigger ... the OT ICS has the DS1 in its fold-out.Opposite side of the Executor Foldout? It'll make a good combo.
Yup. The wingless Liberty version also seen in the film might be good to have in there too- probably given a mention and small picture on the same page as the Liberty.Just point out how Home One is the big arse ship, while the Liberty MonCal is the winged, smaller ship. There's a picture of them on the Hoth pages (with a scout trooper riding on them, in snowtrooper gear) with a paragraph describing their use in an Imperial attack force but not an actual cross-section.I can't really think of anything else. Question about the OT: ICS 2 thing: would it be better to have a separate book with completely new ships/vehicles or a 'revised' version of the original? Meaning, if you bought OT: ICS 1 you should throw it away - as the revised version will have all the old ships as well as the ones they forgot to put in before.
So long as the good Doctor can add some of his own touches, that's a good idea. Of course, the Executor, "Home One", Lambda shuttle Tyderian, TIE Bomber, B-Wing, A-Wing, TIE Interceptor (10 guns!), Medical/Escort Frigate etc are non-negotiable, so the book would have to be longer.Stofsk wrote:Question about the OT: ICS 2 thing: would it be better to have a separate book with completely new ships/vehicles or a 'revised' version of the original? Separate book, with maybe some overlap if enough new information can be put in on duplicate entries. I'd like to see an ISD-II, since the ISD-I was in the first ICS OT. The differences between it and the ISD-I can be mentioned. Same with having the DS2 instead of the DS1.Stofsk wrote:Question about the OT: ICS 2 thing: would it be better to have a separate book with completely new ships/vehicles or a 'revised' version of the original?
