Size of Leviathan confirmed

Okay, so it's a 600 metre long Interdictor. Which means that my guestimate for the Star Forge's size (in this thread) is about twice as big as its actual size (since I assumed that the Leviathan was the same size as an ISD). That means the SF is ~ 50 km long.

Does weapons compliment seem a bit too low to you? Also it's funny that the Interdictor cruiser's gav well projectors are so big you can't even if wanted to, but projectors of the Leviathan are totally hiden.

It seems odd that it has only 4 TLs when the Ebon Hawk which is a much smaller ship has already Dual TLs.Lord Revan wrote:Does weapons compliment seem a bit too low to you? Why do the EU authors fetishize midget ships? Did the galaxy have orders of magnitude less industrial capacity before? Did the galaxy itself expand exponentially since the Sith War?

Extremely, considering that it flattened a planet. The clip of it seem to have a lot more.. very.. odd.Lord Revan wrote:Does weapons compliment seem a bit too low to you?
Maybe they are weak in comparison with the later interdictors. I find it strange that the interdictor is introduced so early, when it's said to be developed by the Empire much later. Perhaps it's a case of lost-rediscovered tech.Lord Revan wrote:Also it's funny that the Interdictor cruiser's gav well projectors are so big you can't even if wanted to, but projectors of the Leviathan are totally hiden.
The website mentions it's a 4000 year old technology. Perhaps the Imperial Interdictor Cruisers had much larger grav-well generators to provide extra power--either creating "larger" grav-well effect or a "deeper" one, or both.
As for the size...once again, it's 4000 year old technology. At that point, for whatever reason, there may not have been much demand for enormous vessels like the Empire favored.
Dreadnoughts were considered powerful vessels, and were small by the standards of the Empire and later the New Republic. Possibly, the Empire set a new standard by having access to an enormous economy and more willingness to pump funds into bigger, more powerful starships--while the Old Republic had, perhaps, the same economic power to play with it may not have had the willingness to spend that much of its capital on developing bigger, nastier starships.
The weapons issue I can't answer to; it does seem rather undergunned for its size. Maybe the grav-well projectors required enough energy that the designers felt the generators couldn't power an enormous weapons array on top of the shields and the projectors?

Give me a fucking break. They have hyperdrive. They have explored the whole galaxy and unified it. These people later build the Death Star.
The fucking thing is twice the size of our Nimitz-class CVN and is the "pride of the Republic Navy."
And did you miss the tens of thousands of 2-mile wide carriers orbiting Naboo in a certain film as a political ploy before a real military even existed?
Don't rely on the EU for scale in the SW galaxy.

reading through the actual entries, it seems that they ment batteries rather than gun barels. Could it be possible that it merely has four groups of actual turbolasers along its brim tenches?

My friend also told me that the game says that the Leviathan was around 1600 meters, or roughly on the scale of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer's mass.
EDIT: I find this mildly more acceptable. Imagine if you will an era where the Republic Navy and militaries in general prefer a more genteel and elitist attitude toward combat and command. Consider that in this era, fancy, almost artistically-formed small vessels form the majority of command ships (with other, uglier, larger, and more practical vessels serving as fleet combatants). Such duties are relegated to what amount to militarized yachts for their ostentatious commanders, and more more dedicated solely to C4I, akin to the USN's Blue Ridge-class. However, in the much more pragmatic and chaotic era of Palpatine's reign, command ships are often encorporated into the designs of formidable Star Battleships or Star Dreadnoughts, such as Admiral Giel's flagship or HIMS Executor.

What in the hell is the Leviathan? (Yeah, I can see the databank entry, but I've never heard of it before.)
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Considering that 4 sets of 2 guns are shown firing on Taris, one is faced with the fact that the data base is wrong OR that the Leviathan only has weapons on one side of the ship.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

What the? The Leviathan is not a Republic vessel, its Rakatan, produced by the Star Forge- who here has actually played Knights of the Old Republic?

Actually in the game, when you learn about Carth, you lean that Admiral (whats his nuts) took the Leviathan with him when he defected to the Sith, IIRC.Vympel wrote:What the? It could be that later hyperdrives are less sensitive to the type of disturbance generated by a Leviathan's gravwell projectors.. requiring something on a much larger scale to actually trip the safeties.

The admiral's name is Saul Karath. And for the Leviathan being Rakatan product, Carth Onassi served on the Leviathan, so that states that it must be a Republic ship. Since if sith cruisers were non-republic desing, it would provoke questions that neither Revan or Malak would want to be asked (the sith ship were part of Revan's fleet during the Mandalorian war.Knife wrote:Actually in the game, when you learn about Carth, you lean that Admiral (whats his nuts) took the Leviathan with him when he defected to the Sith, IIRC.Vympel wrote:What the?
