That's cause you're looking at men's swimming instead of women's swimming. Those people wearing full-body suits are men, they don't wear little speedos anymore. I watched a bit of it last night too. Bardwhaj is definitely not bad looking. Carly Patterson and Courtney Kupets look like they will be pretty nice too once they're just a little older, and they already are past the point where they look like small, albeit muscular, children they way some of the other gymnasts (especially the Romanians) do. That Russian gymnast though, Svetlana Khorkina...

Appearantly, Svetlanna Khorkina lost a bit of weight since last Olympics. Even I was noticing that she looked unusually thin this year. It may very well be due to her modelling career, but that's speculation.

I know that the current fashion is for very slender models. But slender is one thing, and bony is another. This girl has crossed into walking skeleton territory. I don't think she has a very pretty face either, so I also wonder how she can work as a model.

The track events has now begun (finally).

Not too many hot looking chicks in track and field. Well that's my view. I'm only 21. Most track athletes are in their late 20's early 30's.

Hell, even if we WERE to extrapolate the US Nielsen numbers worldwide (which is no given since television ownership is much higher here than among... say... Chinese and India peasantry) we'd still be left with around half a billion, or just a little more than one-eighth of your number.

Half a billion seems like a lot, but that's one out of every ten or twelve people. If you have two-dozen friends, and two of them watch the Olympics, can you say with a straight face that "your friends give a shit about" them?

Actually, the number was 56 million, or about 1/5. Which amountsd to about 1.2 billion viewers.
